As Kolkata is one of the most polluted top 20 cities of the world it should be used for pilot testing of solid waste management & waste water treatment. Solid waste management and waste water treatment infrastucture is poor compared to the population size. More and more peaple are flocking in the city and solid garbages are dumped on open roads. Waste water nullah's flow throughout the city and the same is dumped into the Ganga makeing it more polluted. Pls take intiatives to stop this practice.

There is a need to fix criteria for selecting cities and towns for pilot testing of solid waste management and waste water treatment initiatives. It should include population, size, industrial, religious and tourism significance of the towns and cities. Equal distribution among-est states and addressing the most neglected towns and cities could be additional criteria. The states should propose the names and the Central Cabinet should approve the same after mutual deliberations with the states.

Agra City Which has the national heritage Taj mahal is very dirty. The streets are narrow due to all persons have extended there shops and houses on the roads, and traffic situation is Pathetic. It is also near to Delhi and a major tourism hub. So there is an urgent need to have a cleanup of that city. The Solid waste management plant can be put there on a PPP model. The bins will be installed by the government and the collection work can be done by private partner.
