The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
a. Waste management and zero waste systems
b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

How to participate?
1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

The sheer volume of flowers, fruits, and milk offered to the Shivalinga can be systematically diverted from landfills: Flower to Incense Project: Set up dedicated, well-marked "Nirmalya Bins" strictly for discarded flower garlands. Partner with local self-help groups (SHGs) or start-ups to process these flowers into organic incense sticks (agarbatti), dhoop, or organic Holi colors. The "Devotion to Nutrition" Milk Channel: Thousands of liters of milk are offered during जलाभिषेक (Jalabhishek). Implement a specialized drainage/filtration system at the Shivalinga to divert clean, excess milk into separate containers. This can be safely processed and distributed to local gaushalas (cowsheds) or used for stray animal feeding initiatives.

Transform Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri into a Zero-Waste Festival by recycling temple flower waste into incense sticks and compost, eliminating single-use plastics through reusable Prasad containers, and encouraging waste segregation through a QR-based Green Reward System. Local volunteers and self-help groups can manage the process, creating a clean, sustainable, and replicable model for temples across India. Tagline: "Clean Temple, Green Festival, Sustainable Future." "Keep the Temple Clean, Keep the Spirit Serene." "Clean Temple, Sacred Atmosphere." "Where Cleanliness Prevails, Divinity Dwells." "Respect the Temple — Keep It Clean." "A Clean Temple is a Beautiful Prayer." "Clean Surroundings, Divine Blessings." "Honor the Sacred, Save the Rivers—Properly Immerse Worship Materials and Damaged Idols, Never Dump Them in Water."

What would happen if all the sports leagues of India, Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka & Myammar were merged and each sports league was made into a single league according to its sport? Merging the sports leagues of these Countries into single, unified leagues would create a massive South Asian sports ecosystem. This would dramatically increase commercial value, enhance competitiveness for smaller nations, and create a high-revenue, high-visibility market similar to a mega Sports Events.
