The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
a. Waste management and zero waste systems
b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

How to participate?
1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

Organize Mahashivratri as a completely zero-waste festival by reducing, reusing, and recycling all waste generated during the event. Use cloth or reusable bags instead of plastic, provide separate bins for wet and dry waste, compost flower offerings and organic waste, and encourage devotees to bring reusable water bottles. Volunteers can spread awareness about cleanliness and environmental protection. The compost produced can be used for temple gardens and local greenery. This initiative will make the festival eco-friendly, clean, and a model for sustainable religious celebrations.

🙏To All the chief officers and government undertaken this project my humble request to you all is take necessary steps against the public safety because the government knows about the present situation the main points to be noted: Each and every one must be given a sensor id which can give all information about their location and the detail about them so if any terrorist enter inside without batch will be identified by the radar and you can reach them immediately through AI military drones and catch them easily before any unexpected incidence. Cups Plate Water Bottle and necessary everything made of red sand clay with light weight and properly manufactured for reuse. keep Collecting bag's and Dustbin at every 100 to 200 mts. give proper installation to the food Donors not to give more food to the public so they will not waste it. arrangements for the volunteers can be given to the colleges schools and public welfare organisations like women's organisation RSS etc. Bharat Mata ki Jay

The core of the implementation lies in a trained volunteer force that guides pilgrim behavior in real time, reinforced by constant digital and visual communication that frames environmental cleanliness as a form of spiritual service. Together, these steps transform the festival into a circular ecosystem where every material used is either returned to the earth or efficiently recycled.
