The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
a. Waste management and zero waste systems
b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

How to participate?
1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

As you all know , today for out comfort we are highly dependent on deforestation and destroying the home of thousands , just because they can't speak , express their thoughts. inside our homes we enjoy meat , eggs but what about those hens who face tremendous pain and discomfort daily , they don't even get enough place to fly their wings & sometime to breathe even My simple motive is that government should take strict actions on these , launch programmes to protect wildlife , birds and rich fauna. some simple steps like protest today can create a huge difference tommorow Thank you Meenakshi 8F (APS UDHAMPUR)

Reusable Prasadam Containers: Mandate cloth bags or leaf platters (donas) instead of plastic packaging for distributing sweets and offerings. Composting Flower Waste: Setup localized organic waste bins to collect temple floral offerings daily and convert them into natural compost or incense sticks. Water Refill Stations: Install free filtered water dispensers across the venue to eliminate the usage of single-use plastic water bottles. Digital Outreach: Replace printed event pamphlets or maps with QR codes displayed on wooden boards to drastically reduce paper waste. Eco-Volunteer Squads: Deploy dedicated youth teams at entry points to educate devotees and ensure correct segregation of wet and dry waste.

What would happen if all the sports leagues of India, Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka & Myammar were merged and each sports league was made into a single league according to its sport? Merging the sports leagues of these Countries into single, unified leagues would create a massive South Asian sports ecosystem. This would dramatically increase commercial value, enhance competitiveness for smaller nations, and create a high-revenue, high-visibility market similar to a mega Sports Events.
