There should be a single head for exemptions for salaried people and other for non-salaried people provided they make saving/investment in 80D instruments, 80CCD instruments like NPS, Self/parent medical insurance, home loan interest and these all should not be kept in separate buckets. Together an exemption of 4 lac for salaried and 3 lac for non-salaried employess (as they can show some personal expense out of their income already).

The Rs 15000 deduction for medical services is really too low to cover the actual out patient medical expenses of a family in a year. It is very painful to pay taxes even on the medical expenditure reimbursement. Please increase this limit to a more practical level.

Mutual fund distributors are being levied service tax since the last budget. This tax is very high and prohibitive in nature. We total taxation including service tax and income tax is more than that levied on cigarette. Are mutual funds as harmul cigarette? Sincere request to remove service tax on mutual fund distributors.
