Taking serious note of the latest decision of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Chandigarh Administration has speed up the enforcement of ban imposed on the use of polythene carry bags/plastic bags/plates/cups and other allied material in Union Territory of Chandigarh. As per NGT directions there is also provision of imposing fine of Rs.5, 000/- "Environmental Compensation" to the erring person/entity per event, along with seizure of such stocks.

With the help of this discussion platform the Administration requests you to 'report the violations' (attach pictures or other details) regarding use of plastic carry bag/plate/cup and allied items on ww.mygov.in. Also, we would like to read your suggestions/ideas as well as practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of plastic (carry bag/cup/plate and allied items) ban in Chandigarh.

we use plastic-bag in various propose mostly when we buy liquid products.so if an eco-friendly bags are supplied on all such shops for customers so they can take this bags in compliment of poly-bags .small charges may apply on ecobags .i think this is an suitable idea.

It is very much in human nature that men never changes one's havit very easily.The use of plastic bags can not be easily left by the people of India.The first reason is it is readily available in affordable cost and now a days each man has become accustomed of using it.Most importantly the alternate substances, which can be used are not easily affordable or cost effective.Paper bags which can be used in place of plastic bags are not strong enough.Manufacturing of paper consumes too much of water

Simply ban on plastic bags would not solve the problem at all. Because in India its very easy to find an item which is banned. This problem will persist until a fine would be imposed on sellers & users. Few states like Bihar & UP are the states where you can take many polybags from sellers with you while go for a purchase of even 2 Kg of vegetables. Therefore this campaign should be spread through out the country because this is the basic reason for pollution.

Dear sir as per governments suggestion we have built up toilets in jun 2015 at our village and we had applied for its subsidy to the concern department in maharahstra government but they denied subsidy because of lack of funding and replied that 'no fund is available in 214-15 financial year ', so tell us option for that. Dear Sir, JUSCO a TATA group company has developed a technology to use waste plastic of all grades, to build roads which are eco-friendly,durable & cheaper. India's situation with regards to plastic waste is alarming and inadequate system to collect & dispose such huge amount of plastic leads to people dumping them in pits, farms, lakes, rivers and drainage nullahs.
