Taking serious note of the latest decision of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Chandigarh Administration has speed up the enforcement of ban imposed on the use of polythene carry bags/plastic bags/plates/cups and other allied material in Union Territory of Chandigarh. As per NGT directions there is also provision of imposing fine of Rs.5, 000/- "Environmental Compensation" to the erring person/entity per event, along with seizure of such stocks.

With the help of this discussion platform the Administration requests you to 'report the violations' (attach pictures or other details) regarding use of plastic carry bag/plate/cup and allied items on ww.mygov.in. Also, we would like to read your suggestions/ideas as well as practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of plastic (carry bag/cup/plate and allied items) ban in Chandigarh.

In Banning plastic bags who suffers is Retailers and such other small shoppers but those who manufactures it does not suffers and they keep manufacturing such bags and encourage use of the same. Thus their should be ban on manufacture of plastic bags rather than banning purchase or use of such bags. Only in exceptional use of plastic bags should be allowed for e.g. industrial packing purpose which is not in normal course of life. Also their should be guidelines for manufacturing and disposing it

Right now we are lagging behind due to liquid money.We wish our Govt. to support us in this so that garbage related problems can be solved & employment can be generated on huge scale.Also it will help Bharat to help in financial growth as well as industrial growth. Sir, I have developed a project/ machine which utilizes any type bio waste and produces furnace oil, actuated carbon and electricity. There are people in India who produces oil, but only oil by burning only either plastic or rubber but their production capacity is low (max. 20 ltrs./ day) and it causes pollution. Right now we have a demo machine which gives oil of 50 ltrs/hour and have developed design for new machine with capacity 100 ltrs/hour and R&D is on way of more capacity.

respected sir, Regarding the ban on plastic bags,Plastic bags are still available.the major problem is people became used to plastic bags.But Reusable bags are also readily available in supermarkets and pharmacies. Once people become used to carrying around reusable bags, a plastic bag ban is no big deal. Plastic bag bans can be good for the environment.The cost savings from eliminating plastic bags will save stores money and ultimately can lead to lower prices. paper bags should be used.

Sir, This ban on usage of Plastic bags in Chandigarh should be taken in a positive note.There are many reasons for plastic bag bans. One major concern is that plastic bags litter cities and create a mess to clean up. Another concern is that animals can ingest plastic bags or suffocate due to plastic bags.It is not that easy or practically possible to ban the usage of plastic bags through out the Nation,but this can be taken forward by replacing the plastic bags with Lightweight bags(HDPE).

Till now we successfully find out alternate of poly material, 1. All the scrapped and used plastic should be collected, washed with recycled industrial water, cut into fine granules. 2. The above fine granules should be used to manufacture low strength bricks, planks, cubes and other shapes as per demand with the use of binding material. 3. The above production might be used in low strength partition wall, road divider,underground supporting bottom bed for road construction, garden brick etc.

Respected sir, Clean india project can be move to one step forward by banning this plastic bags, plates and cups. Instead of using plastics bags, plates we can use paper bags and plates. First supplying plastic bags in shop should be banned so people cannot buy them and then plastic plates, cups should be banned in hotels so it is very good process for clean india

Sir,Financial Incentives are the best way to ensure this rule is adhered to.Taxing the plastic bag industry for its environmental impact will drive up plastic bag prices and will allow greener options to be more competitively priced.For a green option,jute is a viable alternative,especially in Punjab and Haryana. Promoting reusable jute bags will encourage the local jute industry as well as reduce the environmental impact of plastic bags.
