Cheap yet attractive Chinese products are engulfing the market - suffocating our artisans. Could the curriculum have areas which motivate & technically help our sculptors, potters & toy makers to embrace modern methods to revive the old art? School and College art departments could actually help the Indian economy, instead of being mere aesthetic attachments. It is a shame when we have to buy a China made toxic-coloured 'Lakshmi-Ganesh' idol for Deepawali!

2/2 2) Less Chalk,Talk and Stick and more Thoughts, words and deeds.Childhood is the most innovative and imaginative phase of our life and this needs to nurture rather than thwarted in schools. 3)Imparting vocational education from 5th grade. 4)Having platforms such as Myschoolin where the child could be voice his opinion anonymously.A school is a micro-democracy and hence it should as vibrant as a real one. 5)Gender sensitisation from an early age.

1/1Indian Education system is clearly creating competent worker bees as Macaulay would have wanted it to.But the British have left long ago and it is high time that we to part with their education policy too. My inputs for the Draft that much sharper minds are shaping would be 1)A local educational authority that has a say in what education is imparted in their geographical division.Combining cultural and geographical pride with global education.

Post 4/4: Language is the vehicle of civilization, tradition, religion. If languages perish, there is fear of loss of our highly evolved culture. We are already late by 50 years in trying to conserve our languages, and one generation in urban areas is already lost. Any more delay will accelerate the annihilation, and wipe off the culture evolved over last 10,000 years. Mother tongue itself should be medium of education. To innovate and contribute creatively we must embrace our languages.

There is no emphasis on quality of academics. The primary and secondary education is at the worst. The students shall be given freedom to take the choice of subjects from class9 and he must not be forced to study he don't want. Instead he must be groomed in the subjects of his choice. The student shall be encouraged to have thorough understanding of those subjects.

Post 3/4: Studying in mother tongue and own scripts will enrich our languages, and new literature also will be generated. All our regions, and associated food, clothing, culture, thought processes, and traditions will be conserved and enriched. The pride in them will be retained. Student will be rooted well in Indian culture. Common Sanskrit language will bring in a feeling of unity.

Post 2/4: 1) Education should be in mother tongue/ regional language till 3rd standard. No need to introduce any other language till then in school curriculum. 2) From 4th std, Hindi may be introduced, as a language and also Devanagari script. 3) From 7th std, Sanskrit and English may be introduced.

Post 1/4: Thinking and presenting thoughts in own language is natural and most efficient. Most Nobel prize winners have studied in their own languages. So mother tongue or the regional language should be the medium of study during schooling so that children do not miss opportunity to start thinking and expressing from early age. Japan, France, Germany, China etc have all educated their children in their own languages and made tremendous progress.
