How about allowing students from countries within SAARC (excepting Pakistan) to freely come and study in Indian institutions on same terms as Indians? Let them compete in JEE and PMT and study. Thereafter, if they so desire, they can take a work-visa and work in India. This will improve people to people contact and increase India's stature and role in the South Asian region. This can be tried on a pilot basis with Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka and gradually rolled out to Bangladesh as well

Contd. thousands abnormalities embeded in the system by incompetent political parties and ministries loaded on to the system. Until we start from basics and rebuilt nothing is possible in this rotten system. We are ripped when we are told of new education policy. Policy can never be new,it can only be remodeled to accomodate growing national and International demands our younger generation including society as whole needs without destroying basics that were established with start of governance.

Basics of education policy established after independence have been distorted to a level from free education at primary level to corruption dipped commercialization of education from primary to its all level. The education policy must also focus on open learning system. The engineers are deprived of open learning system particularly to master degree due to AICTE. Through IGNOU or other institution of repute master degree in engineering should be offered in distance mode. This will enhance skill levels of many experienced engineers. There are fake degrees still continuing which need to be banned & alternatively genuine degree courses through Institution of Engineers & IGNOU should be started.

We have a policy of "no detention" in schools (up to VIII) resulting in the practice that several teachers of the primary & upper-primary classes have ceased to teach! And the perplexed secondary and senior-secondary teachers getting all the bad name. Let the students be promoted to the next higher class, but their examination should be a reflection of the teachers' effort and success. The child's examination should be the teachers' test. If one has to fail - it should be the delinquent teacher.

13)The example of SECMOL run in Ladakh should be taken as a pilot project by those drafting this new policy. The young generation of this country has to be innovative, poltically and socially aware.Possessing radical but humane political ideals, capable of leading the world in its quest for a better future. And I believe this education policy can be the first step towards that. And as we all know first step is always the most important one.
