During the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared that a large number of people have been talking to him about the increase in usage of drugs. The Prime Minister described this as a very serious issue and assured that he will talk about the menace during the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.

The Open Forums invites you to talk about the menace of drugs. Share how you feel this menace can be mitigated, what steps can be taken to get youngsters out of this. You can share anecdotes – how you saved children from this menace of drugs or if you have had a personal experience. NGOs working in this sphere should contribute. Your contribution would be a major step in freeing India from the menace of drugs.

my suggestion is that a high-profile educational advertisement be launched on TV/radio highlighting the tragic consequences of drug menace on family life - wife/children/parents - apart from its runing once own life. may be with some real-life examples.

I feel more than punishment of any sort to offender let us all strive to eradicate the underlying root cause for drug menace which according to me is overall injustice, unemployment, violence in the society. I'm not justifying the use of drugs to cater to such issues but certainly we have to make build a better society to tackle all such social issues so that such addiction wont take place in future. Secondly, those who are already addicted, we can treat them using Yoga, pranayam etc.
