During the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared that a large number of people have been talking to him about the increase in usage of drugs. The Prime Minister described this as a very serious issue and assured that he will talk about the menace during the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.

The Open Forums invites you to talk about the menace of drugs. Share how you feel this menace can be mitigated, what steps can be taken to get youngsters out of this. You can share anecdotes – how you saved children from this menace of drugs or if you have had a personal experience. NGOs working in this sphere should contribute. So for youth once addicted, no place to go. So 3 things needed - Compulsory Counselling Centers; Compulsory Medical testing in Colleges & Proper & Effective Rehab centers - which can provide for preparation of facing life and earning livelihood post rehab is over. So encouragement on developing in creative skill and later absorption in Employment - either in Govt sector or provide incentive to Private sector - for employing them, but then some ID card which has their rehab prog details is needed

MIGRATION ,IT MAY BE FOR EDUCATION,EMPLOYMENT WOULD BE THE MAJOR FACTOR RESPONSIBLE FOR CERTAIN PROBLEMS IN SOCIETY,DRUG ABUSE IS ALSO ONE OF THEM. WE HAVE TO WORK ON "TRISITAMBH"(THREE PILLARS ) OF AYURVEDA TO GET RID OF THIS MENANCE WHICH IS AAHAR(FOOD) NIDRA(SLEEP) & BRAHMCHARYA(CONTROLLED SEX).NIDRA & BRAHMCHARYA ARE RESPONSIBLE FACTORS FOR DRUG ADDICTION. WE SHOULD WORK ON THESE TO GET RID OF THIS MENANCE.

Let us first identify drug addicts. Make small groups of these addicts. Treat them as human beings who have fallen in a problem. Ask them to explain their personal experiences and problems of being drug addicts to students, truckers and other groups of people who are liable to take to drugs. This will enable people with knowledge of negatives of drug addiction and most probably drug addicts themselves will kick this habit away when they repeatedly explain the negatives of drug addiction.

Drugs is the biggest menace that will destroy our youth & mankind. It is prevalent in many age group. In any case the there has to be 2 way approach - 1) Corrective & 2) Preventive : First to crack on Corrective measures : Counselling youth is very much necessary. We do not have counselling facility in school or colleges. The approach of school or college faculty or medical officer is very negative towards addictive youngster. Needless to say the government rehab center are equally poor.

Drug use stems from frustrations, mainly caused by unemployment. The Skilling Mission has to be designed to capture the interest of the weakest strata of Society, where the ultimate objective is to create gainful employment and occupation to people. Laws and policing alone will never end the problem. Along with skilling, basic work and moral ethics and discipline would also have to be inculcated in people. As frustration levels go down, so will drug use.

Hon`ble Sir, Strict laws like Kuwait, Singapore are to be looked into for its effective implementation. What ever I would put forth would be invain or very less effective as the controller themselves to be very true and strick to implement it. Since this is huge money game the implementation becomes ineffective. The first culprit is the mother and then the father who are not able to tame their child. There should effective counselling of parents first along with the parents.Death sentce like china.
