During the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared that a large number of people have been talking to him about the increase in usage of drugs. The Prime Minister described this as a very serious issue and assured that he will talk about the menace during the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.

The Open Forums invites you to talk about the menace of drugs. Share how you feel this menace can be mitigated, what steps can be taken to get youngsters out of this. You can share anecdotes – how you saved children from this menace of drugs or if you have had a personal experience. NGOs working in this sphere should contribute. Your contribution would be a major step in freeing India from the menace of drugs.

Honorable PM, I am Riya currently studying in 12th in Vadodara.The group which is vulnerable to this drug addiction are youngsters. Today mostly both parents are working so they very little or no time for their children. Children's are going to all sort of tuition cumming in contact to all sort of people. No one is their to guide them. So according to me first "Parents Should be made Aware of This" , they should be friendly to their child, they should make him/her aware that they are with him.

Family ethical values need to be improved. Assembling whole family once in a day so that one can easily find the person who addicted to drugs so that they can take care of necessary steps. Normally you never find a person who mingles with family and enjoys each moment of his/her life and never gets a chance to move towards this kind of habits.

I myself trying my best to divert their mind towards creational activities but I am also a struggler trying to set up a small unit in village so that I can create some employment for skilled youth. But till the time I am also trying to get approval for sports arena from local bodies .

Preventive measure is workable only if it is implemented through proper system, with effective controls and verification process at regular intervals - as corruption is bigger than Drug menance in our country.

Students from college are the ones that fall prey to drugs most easily. We need to crackdown on the sellers around educational instutions. The law needs to be strengthened so that drug peddling has tough penalties. Support groups can be set up across the countries to help kick the habit.

The place where 90% of the people are addicted to drugs are engineering colleges.I am also an engineering student.I have seen through my eyes.We need to look forward in this direction immediately or unless there would be huge loss for the new generation.This illegal drug industry is growing at a very huge speed and we need to stop this immediately.Every 8 out of 10 students are addicted to drugs in my college and this is the condition of the rest of the colleges.So I would like PM to look after.

Corruption and authorized sale promotes drug addiction. Establishment of autonomous vigilance bodies working at Tahasil level may bring the control. Present licensed shops of liquor needs to be closed. Production of tobacco and allied products be banned. Addicted persons are easy targets for boosting crime and terrorism. Unemployment, superstitions and illiteracy can force the person to drug addiction. Serious steps to eradicate these grounds can control drug addiction. Measures to go from top.

Few people think that smoking,taking drugs is all about being a prestigious person in society,specially men,small kinds do the same because they think men do that and they want to be a men in front of their circle,so i think as like as castism we can give a name to the community who smoke,take drugs ,like terrorist,so in this way every one will avoid them and will not see then in a good way,and till what time they will not smoke or take drugs publically,and publically means,everywhere..

So, one idea is to equip the toll-nakas with system of blood testing for drugs with immediate result and make it compulsory for the Truck drivers to carry this report or make it an e-card (need help from IITians to develop a process - like dry toilets). Get NGOs carry-out first time checks at Toll or Check-nakas. Or make it compulsory for hospitals of that area to carry-out outdoor camp - or give incentive to private hospital to do this. To promote Public-Private-Partnership incentive is must.
