During the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared that a large number of people have been talking to him about the increase in usage of drugs. The Prime Minister described this as a very serious issue and assured that he will talk about the menace during the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.

The Open Forums invites you to talk about the menace of drugs. Share how you feel this menace can be mitigated, what steps can be taken to get youngsters out of this. You can share anecdotes – how you saved children from this menace of drugs or if you have had a personal experience. NGOs working in this sphere should contribute. Your contribution would be a major step in freeing India from the menace of drugs.

Ganza (Marizuana) is available on most Pan shops in Delhi & NCR and everybody knows this including police. We need to curb corruption in police and other agencies responsible for curbing this. Pan shops can be opened by anyone anywhere without any restrictions or permissions. Even tea vendors at every nuke & corner are involved.

Severe punishment should be given to the people whoever involved in drug trafficking. But at the same time government has to be careful that most of the police officers are corrupted and it is easy for them to create a criminal case and trap innocent teenagers and youngsters to revenge on them. if something happens there should be some serious or even capital punishment to be awarded to such officers who ever is doing this crime.

Regular inter action with children by their parents/teachers can reduce a lot of youngsters/teenagers from falling to drug addiction. And make them aware about the realities of getting into this addiction. Most of the teachers ( I say not all the teachers) in this current world are not realizing their value/commitment to the society or they are ignorant that they are the real architects of the next generation of the world. counseling to be given to those already have addicted to drugs.

increase taxation on drugs and tobacco products. the major population getting into the drug addiction is the middle class which adopts drugs as a fashion but its use will definitely be affected when the price of commodity is increased by some folds. the government should also take an advantage of it by increasing the tax value and using it for national development. the increased price of tobacco will definitely affect the demand, only if the price is increased by a multiple

the third suggestion is that as per as government is concerned, special emphasis on police administration with a society reformation team to support it. the society reforming team should comprise of people directly from the society- eminent professors, social workers, doctors, police specialist etc.

in the modern world, as a person gets promotion in life he starts becoming lonely. loneliness leads to depression, every person in his or her life has ambitions, aims, expectations from the hard work he does, in such cases society reformation is required. my suggestion is PERIODIC WORKSHOPS, both for women and men, specially teenagers.
