During the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared that a large number of people have been talking to him about the increase in usage of drugs. The Prime Minister described this as a very serious issue and assured that he will talk about the menace during the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.

The Open Forums invites you to talk about the menace of drugs. Share how you feel this menace can be mitigated, what steps can be taken to get youngsters out of this. You can share anecdotes – how you saved children from this menace of drugs or if you have had a personal experience. NGOs working in this sphere should contribute. Your contribution would be a major step in freeing India from the menace of drugs.

yesterday i was traveling from Godhra(Gujarat) to Ahmedabad bu bus [Up & Down], I was wondering to have such a dirtyness of Bus stop and bus passengers inside the bus, spitting tobacco any where, pouches of water thrown anywhere without seeing. The floors of Bus stand was coloured with Pichkari. By telling them to stop this, i got answers like "tere ko kya" , "bada aya bolnewala". I realy ashamed that here PM sir wants to have all kind of cleaniness and here people dont care about any thing...

- There is still easy accessibility and availability of over counter drugs without prescription, despite having public health policies. - Existing Mental health law is being implemented in cases of Substance abuse disorders, which is being a major hindrance in the intervention strategies by the professionals and negligible number of victims and their families are seeking professional help. - Primary detoxification unit & assessment facilities should be available at jails & observation homes.

Saying “no” is hard for everybody, even adults. Practice these ways to say “no” to drugs and alcohol with a friend or parent so you will feel comfortable. Different children will have different ways of saying “no,” so practice and use the ones that work for you. You are with some friends at a friend’s house after school. They find some beer in the fridge. They say: “Hey, have a drink of beer.” You say: “No.” You may have to say “no” more than once. Don’t argue. Say no and show you mean it !

To use alcohol, cigarettes and other tobacco products are the status symbol today. Children as well as society must be taught to say no as it is injurious to health. It must be known by all that how biologically a person becomes addicted of these products and how these are injurious for life. It must be told via media that how a person using these products is dangerous to society. The rehabilitation centers must be open in all blocks & all narcotics alcohol, tobacco and drugs must be banned.

The malasie in the system to tackle such criminal activities is because for we people, it is we first and then comes we again. we are not a nation but a group of people who are only concerned with ourselves. if a minority of people are not like that then they like 'atte me namak'

i have seen 3-4 yr old chidren in CP subways using drugs openly. the menace is just not confined to youth only. The reasons behind spreading drug usage are many. crime, terrorism, prostitution/ girls trafficking. It require a system of very honest and strong nationalist for whom counry first, to counter this mafia.

Smoking cigarettes are banned in public places. Even thought we have "No Smoking" sign, people still smoking cigarettes in public places. My take is, if some action is taken on this issue, i.e. for the people who are smoking in public and if it starts working, then the same logic can be applied to drug menace also. :) Awareness is must for drug menace.
