Varanasi, or Benaras, (also known as Kashi) is one of the oldest living cities in the world. Varanasi`s Prominence in Hindu mythology is virtually unrevealed. Varanasi Nagar Nigam is now participating in the second round of Smart City Challenge to enhance its Smart City Proposal prepared in Round 1. This exercise is being carried out under the Government of India’s flagship program for developing Smart Cities in India. Varanasi, also known for as the city of light, its culture and heritage, is now the most potential city in the state of Uttar Pradesh for being selected in the next round. As per the Guidelines of Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, the preparation of Smart City Proposal is citizen centric and the successful implementation for any city would depend upon the responses/ suggestions given by its citizens.

Expectations from Citizen: Varanasi Nagar Nigam has detailed out the Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats of the city based on the Focus Group Discussions. Varanasi Nagar Nigam would request all the citizens to support Varanasi by giving their valuable suggestions/ feedback in strengthening the Smart City proposal for round 2.

I wonder everyone is trying to clean ghats (Assi & nearby area) why can't we see the other side of Ganga, means the opposite side of Assi (Ramnagar Ganga Ghat), Nagar Nigham can plant thousands of tree in the sands area which in trun help PM's clean India program. Just a suggestion from a native of Banaras.

In order to upgrade Varanasi into Smart city the following issues have to be dealt with: 1. Asi Nala or Asi River is flowing right through the centre of the city. It's highly polluted and stinks damaging the city's reputation. 2. Main roads of Varanasi are not able to manage the traffic due to encroachment and poor traffic management system. 3. Greenery(parks, etc) needs to be improved for reduction in green gas and beautification. 4. Concrete waste management system. 5. Clean Ganga.

Respected PM im from Bihar but i & my lil sisters live in Hyd for study purpose.i really appreciate u 4 everything u did u do or u'll do.Respect 4 ur team specially Prabhu sir ,Sushma ma'am ,Parrikar sir & Jaitley sir. I suggestion 4 smart city is 1st v should think about drainage system otherwise everything is waste cities like mumbai ,delhi ,hyderabad others dont hv good drainage system so pls if u really think this is important do something about this.

Despite being good in the fields of tourism and cultural wealth with the temples, streets and the monuments, our city Varanasi is lacking in basic fields of Education, Advance Medical facilities, proper roads and sanitary system, etc. The traffic system is poor and the encroachment on the roads is very common in the city. Highly sophisticated areas of the city where the mass tourists are attracted most, need to planned well.Moreover, there is nothing fruitful for the ones in the IT field.

One of the areas where we mainly lack is jobs. As we have very less organized jobs in city limit. One of the best solutions can be to set up an IT SEZ on outskirts of city. IT is one of the easiest and fastest setup businesses which will have minimum impact on environment. One SEZ can be of 50,000 capacity which can generate roughly more than 100000 jobs. It can be used as manure for growing our city.Any SEZ projects from cities like Hyderabad/Mysore can be used as an example.

We have to change if want to change india . we have to try the more plantation. So we control the natural disaster .we have to make one special day for make this revolution. Because our india is progressing in techonology but all machines , ac, freezes, vehicals produce cfc gasses which make such accident of fluid and global warning.

. And also make group in all private and sarkari member responsibity of plantation .we will result increase the number of plant and by which we balance the environment , less the natural disaster. And progress the development of india and free to take fresh breathing. Decrease the lungs problem. And make smart and pollution free city .

SOLUTION- if we want to make city air pollution free , we have to increase the plantation .it also comes in swacha bharat abhiyan If we make a trial for one-half year that in the road 2 neighbour shopkeeper makes money together and plant one tree in front of road and also make group of student which has responsibility of 1 tree plantation . this is in all school and college.
