Varanasi, or Benaras, (also known as Kashi) is one of the oldest living cities in the world. Varanasi`s Prominence in Hindu mythology is virtually unrevealed. Varanasi Nagar Nigam is now participating in the second round of Smart City Challenge to enhance its Smart City Proposal prepared in Round 1. This exercise is being carried out under the Government of India’s flagship program for developing Smart Cities in India. Varanasi, also known for as the city of light, its culture and heritage, is now the most potential city in the state of Uttar Pradesh for being selected in the next round. As per the Guidelines of Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, the preparation of Smart City Proposal is citizen centric and the successful implementation for any city would depend upon the responses/ suggestions given by its citizens.

Expectations from Citizen: Varanasi Nagar Nigam has detailed out the Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats of the city based on the Focus Group Discussions. Varanasi Nagar Nigam would request all the citizens to support Varanasi by giving their valuable suggestions/ feedback in strengthening the Smart City proposal for round 2.

I just only want to suggest that whichever project or plan has been planned must be completed on time for the development of city & and plantation should be done around the lakes,ponds etc. Many time we have seen that construction of roads are done only when when our Honourable PM or CM visits the city otherwise the work is not done or done in very slow manner. On the whole lack of discipline is there.

- Waste Management, Littering and Garbage at every corner should be tackled first - New area or greater varanasi should be developed, So that conjection can be reduced - Traffic management should be there, with modern devices - Administration is corrupt over here, from Ram Gopal Mohle to District Magistrate. They are not working seriously

In Smart City Transport Facility is very important railway must start D.M.U / MEMU Trains From Varanasi in the range of 100 Kms because approx 10 Districts of U.P. And Bihar Depends on Varanasi For Medical Facilities Etc.......

-There is no proper street lightening maximum roads are lit up by shop lights at night -Proper Auto Rickshaw stands should be made as the auto drivers park their vehicles road sides creating obstructions for general traffic -Although We have good medicinal facilities in the city but still they are not upto the mark -The Undergoing fly over projects should be completed quickly as these projects tends to lag for years (ex:The Manduadih FlyOver was completed in 6 YeARS) and now we have more ....

Modi sir if we have 2 make Varanasi clean so firstly the roads should be neat Nd clean proper in Varanasi no road is proper connectivity , gabage is most big point ..then after traffic is also very bad ,roads r very bad ..no proper connstruction like other cities .sir we have not get the facilities of any thing .But we want 2 se smart cities 2 our brothers , sisters Nd children's pls sir do any thing for this all the maters sir only u can that we know every 1.so make Varanasi beautiful it reuest

SWOT: Strength: Available Resources; Weakness: Bad Administration, mis management; Opportunity:Youth, skills, public potential ; Threat: Politics, delaying projects, brain drain, pollution. >Smart Varanasi should be well developed from BHU area to Babatpur airport etc. >Set up IT and software park in BHU bypass area near educational belt. Door to door PAID waste management system, >Underground electrification, Better connectivity from residential area to commercial area. >Proper drainage system

Well we are talking about SMART CITY here and Varanasi lacks even the basic amenities .... When we talk about sanitation ... Well the entire city was dug out to setup a new sewage system .. that would not only be sufficient enough to handle the city sewage load but would continue to support the city for next 100 years and also that it would keep the Ganga clean .. if it's still incomplete then it should be finished soon .................
