The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

I propose that Coal Mines should not be given on long term Lease, as Govt may not realise full Value in auction. Bidders will discount the low end price, at the time of bidding. Coal Mines should be given on contractual basis. Bid should be called for Lowest Mining Cost at particular Mine with modern technology & quickest way. The Bid can include transportation till the Port. Low/High price should be enjoyed by GoI. To safeguard bidder's interest, min. quantity & contract terms should be cnfmd.

Let the Public Sectors use their employees to impart skill development to the un-employed youth in their operational areas. All such who volunteer and succeed in imparting skills should be recognized by their respective managements with commendation certificates as a measure of encouragement to others and for owning up responsibility.

Dear Sir, First of all I would like to thank you for such an initiative where we can share our views. Sir, regarding skill development I think the first thing we nee to do is the change of administration in the engineering sector. I am presently part of an Engineering college under West Bengal University of Technology and I see the total administration is pathetic. I feel AICTE is the most corrupt body who approves the engineering college. It requires a tremendous correction for skill develoment
