In the latest episode of Mann Ki Baat on 27th September 2020, Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi spoke about the art of storytelling. He mentioned that the history of stories is as ancient as the human civilization itself. ‘Where there is a soul, there is a story’.

As we are going to celebrate 75 years of independence, Prime Minister urged storytellers across the Nation to share stories of many inspiring events during the entire period of our enslavement. Especially, from 1857 to 1947, stories around every major or minor incident during this period can be introduced to our new generation.

“May this art of storytelling become stronger in the country, become more popularized and easier to imbibe - this is something we must all strive for”: PM Narendra Modi

Do you know of any inspiring event during the 1857-1947 freedom struggle that isn’t so well known? Maybe a long-forgotten hero who did not get as much prominence as he/she deserved? Maybe an incident which played a minor but important role in our struggle? A story you might have heard from a family elder, many years ago?

Tell us, we will feature your story for all Indians!

Share your story in the form of a video, audio clip, picture or essay.

Veer Savarkar, the man with guts, bravery and author of: "The History of the War of Indian Independence". He inspired many Indian students and formed an organisation 'Free India Society' to fight against Britishers. His contribution to Indian Independence Movement is his persona and uniqueness. Gandhi was born at Porbandar, a small native state in Kathiawar in. 1869. His father was the hereditary Diwan of that tiny state. He belonged to the Vaishya community which had close contacts with the Jains and. perhaps that could be the basis of his firm belief in Ahimsa or non-violence and Pacifism. His autobiography The Story of My Experiments with Truth, graphically, truthfully and vividly describes his life.

India's independence struggle lasted for 100 years and all sections of people, women, children, rich, poor, labourers, army men all participated in it. Mahatma Gandhi insisted for non violence, but certain places violence occurred. It is not easy to make all people of a huge country with the same mind. Eventhough India was divided into 2, we attained full freedom as an independent nation.
