Pravasi Bharatiya Divas has emerged as a wonderful forum to strengthen the bond between the diaspora and the people of India. It offers unlimited opportunities for India to gain from the skill and insight of the diaspora, who have been the pride of India across the world.

This forum seeks inputs on how to further sharpen the focus of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas for the overall development of India. Share your views on what more can be done to make the interaction between the NRIs and the Government more productive and impactful. How can India receive more investment not only from the diaspora but also from the world at large?

If you find global best practices of how various Governments have been innovatively engaging with their diaspora through such summits, you can share the same here too.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas should have on the spot encumbrances free land allotment kiosk for different sector like SEZ, SIR etc. It will help build confidence among investors. If the investor community if more than expected, the land should be put for auction. So, that the investor gets the land before the end of PBD. PBD should also showcase the availability for manpower across sectors from ITI, IIT, NID, IT etc. So that decisions can be made easily. Let there only be Red Carpet.

A major step to make the govt. departments ideally functional and accountable would be to infuse the sense of insecurity on the basis of non-performance for the govt. officials. Though there are appraisal systems but not functional as desired. Everyone wants govt. job because of its security till 60 years irrespective of performance. That's the reason why even non performing individuals are taking hefty amounts despite of doing nothing useful. An online 360 degree appraisal could be introduced.

Dear Modi ji, When we talk about nation branding (India being ranked at 31st among 50 countries - Anholt-GfK) , no matter how much do we advertise outside, obviously the foreigners, company executive mainly and NRIs from Europe, UK and US see the actual reality when they are here! Many SEZs (e.g. Hinjawadi, Pune) are surrounded by poor quality Grama Panchayat roads. Can we take an initiative to identify all such touch points where foreigners have high visibility and work on improving them?

The diaspora as a step to enhancing the bond between people of India and the NRI can take to host Skill Development Shibhiras in India based on their experience abroad. They can also establish connection with genuine job portals abroad to the successful candidates, they can also enlighten the participating candidates about the payments modes and rules involved in foreign currency exchange. Information coming from NRI as a lot of influence on the skill developing trainees.
