Pravasi Bharatiya Divas has emerged as a wonderful forum to strengthen the bond between the diaspora and the people of India. It offers unlimited opportunities for India to gain from the skill and insight of the diaspora, who have been the pride of India across the world.

This forum seeks inputs on how to further sharpen the focus of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas for the overall development of India. Share your views on what more can be done to make the interaction between the NRIs and the Government more productive and impactful. How can India receive more investment not only from the diaspora but also from the world at large?

If you find global best practices of how various Governments have been innovatively engaging with their diaspora through such summits, you can share the same here too.

Travelling is most significant item in their activity list...make it as pleasurable as possible...especially planned journey options...something really needs to be done in train circular tickets...easily accessible non-manual online user-friendly booking interface with integrated itinerary planning and train timing-availability based selection options would do great...and yes CLEANLINESS!!!!!

Make a scheme "Indians for India" under PM in which every Indian can donate at least Re.1 per month voluntarily.Considering our population if 30% also donate will be a huge amount.Make it tax free to encourage more donation.Let the banks do the collection to avoid corruption. The use of this amount should be restricted to natural calamities, irrigation, job creation etc especially in rural sector.Give an ID to person donating and benefits which in turn does not cost anything to the Country.

Like this "The seeker after truth should be humbler than the dust. The world crushes the dust under its feet, but the seeker after truth should so humble himself that even the dust could crush him. Only then, and not till then, will he have a glimpse of truth.” ― Mahatma Gandhi, Follow this Sir....

Make them FEEL GOOD - so they decide to visit, while they plan, when they arrive, while they stay and move around...Make them FEEL BAD - when they leave, so that they come again and again...that's it!!!!!

Investment from World at Large : Zero corruption (nobody will invest hard earned funds in corrupt nations), Cleanup efforts at all levels (investors/people will place money in clean countries, have to reverse India's perception in western world), Environmentally friendly development, economical & high quality solutions/products, better upkeep of tourist places (FDI in tourism ?), good safe stay and transport for foriegn tourists/businesspeople etc.

RETURNED to Mysore/India 4years back after 40years.Even before P.M commenced to INVITE NRI back to India. However the experience is FRUSTRATING! With IRRESPONSIBLE attitude of the departments have FAILED to get the permission under the provision of Section 109 even AFTER 3years to TRANSFER 5acres family owned land to trust registered in 2011.! How can anyone proceed with such HURDLE creating ATTITUDE? CLEAN up the FUNCTIONING style of Govt. Departments BEFORE inviting NRI.Wish you ALL the BEST

Investment from Indian diaspora : 1. Good fixed deposit interest rates 2. Open Govt / Tax free bonds investment to NRIs 3. Farmhouse/farmland investment for NRIs 4. Treaties with other govts to move taxes paid in social security/medicare etc by returning NRIs to Indian equivalents PPF etc. Lot of returning NRIs may not be getting these benefits in other countries even after paying taxes.
