Pravasi Bharatiya Divas has emerged as a wonderful forum to strengthen the bond between the diaspora and the people of India. It offers unlimited opportunities for India to gain from the skill and insight of the diaspora, who have been the pride of India across the world.

This forum seeks inputs on how to further sharpen the focus of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas for the overall development of India. Share your views on what more can be done to make the interaction between the NRIs and the Government more productive and impactful. How can India receive more investment not only from the diaspora but also from the world at large?

If you find global best practices of how various Governments have been innovatively engaging with their diaspora through such summits, you can share the same here too.

The major concern among NRIs is settling down in India once they return. They are worried that they will not get a job which can help them maintain the same standard of living. I suggest that government should create a portal for NRIs seeking jobs in India and share the database with Indian corporates so that they can recruit from that. Also urge Indian corporates to offer jobs for NRIs through that portal. This will work in reverse to brain drain.

Student migration is often the gateway for permanent stay in the country. This is eased by policies in many destination countries that allow students to convert their student status into a residence permit if they find a job within a certain time after graduation.

Dear Sir, As per the response after Your Address in US there is lots of Positivity in the NRI, we need to have focus on the issues which they have in relation to investment. and some of them which they are directly concern are corruption, Taxation, Rate of interest on returns, spot assessment of income tax or max by 24 hrs as I have observe that most of them do not prefer to even file the return of income to avoid the assessment and to have agency to organise adequate info for brides and groom

NRIs have to go through lengthy formalities to invest in India. So many NRIs keep money in bank accounts. The KYC norms have to be simplified and automatic online verification of passport details and PAN card details should be done. A part of PSU disinvestment should be allocated for NRIs. Most NRIs do not wish to repatriate the profits or investment. So government should allow them capital gains tax exemption similar to domestic citizen if the investment is made on non repatriate basis.

My suggestion; Launch a scheme called - 'Baanto Pyaar - Apnao Ek Parivaar' In this each Pravasi Bhartiya (with his family) can 'adopt' a family here in India which needs help. Once done Pravasi family will - ascertain the needs and goals of the family in India - help the family here attain its goals (education of children, employment, skill development) Vehicle for this could be an intermediate organisation that brings the two families together based on each other's liking

Dear Mr PM, 1) Good interest rates for them but cheap finance for India. They get money at 4-5%. We can offer them 10% and pass same money to SME as cheap finance. 2) Taking back their money should be easy. 3) We can make it tax free if they invest in a property. 4) We develop 5 star retirement homes for them and they can come for their winters. 5) Helping India with building Toilets by Duravit at tourist places will attract more tourists. Social work + Tourist + investments.

1.Give NRI voting rights. 2 There are millions of Indian students studying in universities worldwide. Involve them in online forum to suggest changes in our curiculum. 3.Online pravasi bharatiya can be 365 days affair. It will make it easier for them to participate. 4.Ask them to send their children to India discovery trip. If done well , children will like it. Make it easier for parents to invest. 5.Treat Indian investors with same respect. Theit feedback is always taken by NRI investo
