Pravasi Bharatiya Divas has emerged as a wonderful forum to strengthen the bond between the diaspora and the people of India. It offers unlimited opportunities for India to gain from the skill and insight of the diaspora, who have been the pride of India across the world.

This forum seeks inputs on how to further sharpen the focus of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas for the overall development of India. Share your views on what more can be done to make the interaction between the NRIs and the Government more productive and impactful. How can India receive more investment not only from the diaspora but also from the world at large?

If you find global best practices of how various Governments have been innovatively engaging with their diaspora through such summits, you can share the same here too.

I would suggest to have a group like Internal and External Affairs which consists of Security Matters, Threats from Neighbourhood as well. Seeing the Ongoing Proxy wars from Pakistan and invading our territory now and then by china is a matter of concern and i believe public should have some thoughts about all these incidents.

My views are very simple as since I came here in Saudi Arabia people here are crazy about our food, films, cloths they want our special items but not available like made in China things are. Why we can't provide things like China provides? Here I see start from the smallest thing up to an electronic item all made in China. People here prefer our stuff but not available. Give an opportunity to NRI's for being an entrepreneur. Some useless items as compare to our products are here by China.

Suggestion for this "Open Forum" Let's have a ladder of user instigated topics and one can choose which topic to comment on. We will need a moderator to weed out racist or sexist or vulgar comments. This way the PM can view a running discussion developing. How's that?

Structure is a very strong determinant of behavior. The org structure comprising you as the PM having a hierarchy of disciplined Civil Servants working under you has already started taking effect on the work ethics of Government bodies. On the same lines i have a suggestion on how to accelerate development of all regions. Why not have each session of Parliament in a different region of India. e.g if we have a session of parliament in Tripura or Manipur it is sure to accelerate development there.

Govt. need to short list prominent public faces placed at various high posts all around the world to make the best use of NRI. Collect the data of these personalities first from the Embassy . Then Govt, staff should put them in various categories and compile the data to be available to tap them at the time of requirement. They can contribute in Education field business ideas, training centres, Once in India ,they should learn to contribute and extend helping hands to the society & government.

On Labour Reform: Decreasing working hours, create more shifts per day e.g. 4 shifts 6 hour each.By more shifts, more employment & opportunities will generate, remaining 2 - 4 hours should be utilize for mandatory either Teach or Learn programme. This programme will promote skill development, research, inventions, growth and knowledge.

I have attended 4 of the 12 PBDs. I attended the first 2003 and the last 2014 and saw lot of changes. NRI response in 2003 was extraordinary and in 2014 it was handful and only who are regular to such events. Reason of such disconnection is stereotype nature of the event. PBDs were focused on attracting investments but ignored skill harvesting. There are handful NRI with investment proposals but there are millions with skills. Future PBDs should focus on skill harness.

Casting Vote: Many people cannot cast vote as they stay away from their constitution. A system should be introduced where by before election a voter can apply online to Election Commissioner for approval for casting vote in the place where he/she resides. At the time of casting votes at poll booth the individual will show his/her identity and EC approval. There by the % of voting will raise a lot. This will help mostly to young people who stay away from home for job.
