Lack of livelihood opportunities for tribal people is one of the chief causes of their backward status as compared with the other social groups. This issue is aggravated by the high rate of displacements faced by tribal people due to various industrial projects etc., which also causes loss of livelihood for them among other things. This Ministry has been taking various steps for facilitating sustainable livelihood for tribal populations in different sectors. Stress has been given on vocational education and formal technical education for tribal youth. States are being encouraged to take upskill development initiatives for tribal youth with at least 50% of such activities to be oriented for women.

Through MyGov, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs seeks suggestions/information from all sections of the society regarding various livelihood possibilities for tribal people, availability of skilled/unskilled manpower still unemployed, various traditional skills available with the tribal population, new trends and interests among tribal youth, corresponding skilling needs and possibilities etc.

In US, Amish people make some of the best furniture. Adivasis all over India can do the same. Make prefab toilets, furniture etc for faster assembly at sites. Keep design simple, elegant and sturdy - instill pride in the work they do. Educate them in tradecraft by complementing their skills. Doors, lamps, windows all of these can be prefabbed. Help them visit tradeshows and set their imagination free.

Like ST same is the case of SC & OBC. Present or Ex Ministers, MPs. I.A.S. Engineers, Doctors and even landlords of these sections are grabbing all benefits of poor and government help does not reach to them and being filtered by these people. Morally these people should themselves opt out of these benefits but it will not be possible. If government takes some step in this direction to keep them out, these undeserving people will start crying as, if storm has fallen on them. Who will will do it

It is painful to bring to the notice of government that unless the real beneficiaries are not identified and undeserving people are not kept out of the schemes benefits to real tribes living in jungles will not get any benefit. Undeserving people are filtering all government benefits are not allowing to go to real tribes. But who will do this.Vote is more important in democracy than welfare. No leader dares to stop it because most of political leaders will start crying for their caste.

Scheduled Tribe were given reservation but some communities like Meena caste who are well to do and is prosperous, have grabbed most of the reservation in central as well as in state services/PSUs. Similarly there is reservation for STs based on area like Jaunsar Babar & areas near China boarder of Uttarakhand. Same is the case of many states where some castes who are well to do, due to vote politics of past governments are enjoying benefits of poor and benefits to real tribal are not reaching
