We are all aware that GOI has to spent Tax payers money in creating great engineers/Doctors from IIT/AIMS. Such students land up in a foreign country. Not an issue - but why can't GOI ask such students to pay back significant money as they are expected to contribute to another economy and not India.. This way such educational institutes will have the required money to make it world class. Look at the endowment fund US universities have? Why can't Indian Universities have this?

If we are able to channelize this money - we not only create great institutes in India - but also save our country from spending the precious Foreign Exchange. There are good number of students who would wish to study in India, have the money to pay and just because they haven't got the right stream - they land up in a foreign country in a known college - making our country poor by that much Dollars... Why is it so difficult for the HRD ministry to understand?

We are all ware how difficult it is to clear the Entrance test to several premier institutes like IIT, AIMS, IIM etc. Despite coming in the top 5000 of a student population of around 2million - one can still land up not getting his/her stream of study. Just because GOI doesn't open more of such institutes..Why so? because they don't have funds..Silly logic! when the same very students are ready to pay exorbitant money to go and study in USA..Cant we channelise this money???

JV of Mumbai University with New York University....just like a pvt sector JV. Govt to be a regulator to set and monitor standards only. Not fix curriculum. Fees should be worked out with GOI for some courses....rest should be market linked.

Higher education must open up to foreign universities in India. New York Univ sets up a campus in Abhu Dhabi! Many Indian students are there. Why it cannot get land on lease from Govt toset up campuses in India? Attract foreign students with international placements. This will generate a chain reaction for R&D, employement....
