as on date due to shortsighted politicians and self promoting babus, multiple regulatory agencies exist in education like CBSE,NCERT,NCMEI,UGC,AICTE,MCI,NCTE,NIOS to name a few under HRD,Health,Labour, etc ministries. All these are working in compartments and disjointed and manner with no unified long term national vision for education and skill development of millions of youth. Merge all such bodies in NESDA (national education and skill development authority) by an Act to begin improvement.

The quality of higher education can be improved by teaching relevant and updated curriculum through participatory teaching methods which give space to questioning and reasoning rather than only rote learning. The quality of teaching as well as research has to be improved considerably. The substandard research papers being published of late to fulfil the criterion of scoring points under new performance appraisal system for promotion has done a considerable damage to the quality of research.
