Plastic bags should be replaced by reusable cloth bags and not paper bags. Paper bags are also harmful as paper is got by cutting down trees.

Strictly cloth bags should be used. Our grand and great grandparents used cloth bags. Hence they were healthier than the present generation as they lived in good environment. Shop should give a discount of Rs. 2/- per customer if he/she brings a cloth bag to carry the purchased items. This incentive will make plastic bags disappear. Also educational programs should be conducted in schools & colleges regarding the harm caused by plastic bags on our environment. Paper bags result in cutting trees.

Imposing a ban on plastic carry bags & cups is a welcome move. The very first step should be to impose a ban on manufacturing of plastic carry bags & cups & provide direct & indirect incentives on manufacturing of paper & cloth bags. Rest will fall in place automatically

Implementation of cloth bag rather than plastic bags may be useful.BIG Bazaar has already started from the root level..but it should be strictly advised to all shopkeepers to keep the cloth bag.

To ban plastic bags all shop keepers must come forward to help. They must display a board that plastic carry bags will not be given in their shops. All big shopping malls must co operate in this effort.Likewise citizens also extend their support by carrying cloth bags with them. Its a joint effort.
