Taking serious note of the latest decision of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Chandigarh Administration has speed up the enforcement of ban imposed on the use of polythene carry bags/plastic bags/plates/cups and other allied material in Union Territory of Chandigarh. As per NGT directions there is also provision of imposing fine of Rs.5, 000/- "Environmental Compensation" to the erring person/entity per event, along with seizure of such stocks.

With the help of this discussion platform the Administration requests you to 'report the violations' (attach pictures or other details) regarding use of plastic carry bag/plate/cup and allied items on ww.mygov.in. Also, we would like to read your suggestions/ideas as well as practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of plastic (carry bag/cup/plate and allied items) ban in Chandigarh.

Polythene Collection Camps can be organised to collect the polythene bags from people's home as there are a lot of people who have stored them in their house for further usage to bring vegetables / other material from market. For these type of camps help of local area councillor can be taken.

~~ Plastic that can be recycled should not be banned. ~~ Use of Jute Bags/Banana Peel Cups and Plates should be promoted. ~~ Govt should set up centers where they will accept plastic plates/cups/carry bags or bottles and give away smthing against it. Like in China, you can travel by Metro by depositing unused plastic bottles in the recycling machine and get a ticket in return. ~~ Plastic bottles can be involved in construction. e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPxXH7rCSHQ

You are talking about digital india, broadband and etc but why MTNL which is government owned not functioning properly.one dont want to use mtnl broadband because of its worst service. Some suggestions are- operate it like private sector provide target to authorities in respective areas but along with that provide incentives at each connection so as to increase their motivation. Create a feedback system for customers for future service and complain resolving and take action against authorities

Industries manufacturing bags can replace their products with other products such as industrial use requirement or trays , etc. If we decide today and impose a complete ban after 6 months, the industry will get the necessary time frame to manufacture other products.

The use of plastic bags should be banned and its production houses should be told either to develop or import technology for plastic bags which are recyclable .Ban on plastic bags will also boast recycling in Chandigarh and will create jobs for the poor.#ban #plasticcarryBags

If these plastics are causing nuisance. Stop manufacturing it. If it hurts business perspectives then start producing jute bags instead of plastics. In an year or two you'll see the difference. If you want to ban on something, ban these plastics manufacturing units and encourage them to make jute bags. No one will get hurt neither business nor people but goverment must be supportive in order to start over for completely new business of jute. Start massive program for jute production &cultivation.
