With a dramatic growth in elementary education enrolments and improvements in retention and transition rates in recent years, particularly amongst the more disadvantaged groups, there is an increasing pressure on the secondary schools to admit more students. With the enforcement of RTE Act and further improvement in retention and transition rates, demand for secondary schooling will grow rapidly in the coming years. The objective of this discussion group is to assess to what extent we have made quality education available, accessible and affordable to the target population in the age group of 14–18 years. How we can increase access to post elementary education across the country in a manner so as to ensure no child is denied the opportunity of completing his/her school education. In particular, how can we address the geographical and social disparities in secondary education?

All schools should be accredited by a central body for Quality of Education. Branching out into specific streams can be sooner. Students writing 11th std Exam this year wrote their first exam for their full syllabus for the year: Thanx to Mr. Sibal!!

Involve senior citizens including students' grandparents in ensuring quality education in schools. They have experience, time & will! Kindly undo this continuous evaluation business in 10th-12th classes introduced by Kapil Sibal: Students get no time to study because of formative assessment exercises like role play, speeches, files & scrap books! Sound knowledge of Maths & Sciences was a hallmark of Indian students & respected throughout the world so why did he dilute the education system?

following cluster method in secondary schools will squeeze number of schools as well as teachers and it leads to dropouts more than previous.for every 5 kms one High School is nothing but opposing Right to Education Act(RTE). All secondary schools should be upgraded to Higher Secondary i.e, upto 10+2 like Tamilnadu .

....teachers will stay there and students will come there for complete homework given in school time.Teacher should pay H.W.allowance for this task. 5.Gram panchayat will improve infrastructure of road connectivity by NAREGA so that bus transport become easy and safe. Thus these all plan can be implemented by limited budget. This plan need no more budget rather then if we appoint more teachers in remote area's school. We should gather all few teachers in a big single school for quality education

...in a village (containing area of 5km square or 3000 to 5000 population)Then each school should have 1 to 3 school buses with trained drivers and care takers. These buses will gather all students from remote area safely. As in my grampanchayat if there will be a big gov school and appointed 36 teachers gathered in that single schools then education quality will improve in same current budget.Enrollment will also be up. 4.Closed nearest school will be used as residencial rooms of teacher

...going to remote private schools avoiding nearest gov.schools for good education. Thus quality education matters to villagers ,not nearest schools. 2.So we have to improve quality of govt.schools.each school have teachers according to number of classess avoiding low enrollment. As my mentioned village in earlier post, needs 60 teacher in 10 schools. But it demands a huge budget for teachers sallery. So there is another option mentioned ahead. 3.We should open only single I to XII class school...

One side a lot of unsufficiant investment in govt. schools in each part of this village but facing low enrollment and other side only 2 non govt. schools have low investment but covering each part of village and gather huge no.of students by bus and more than 150 students moved by buses to another town to private schools. Suggestion-Above problem leads us to sollution- 1."Each remote area of a village should have a school."This plan is totaly fail in my view.As in my village childrens are ...

Low child teacher ratio never help improve enrollment.People blams that teacher are not sufficiant and gov. never appoint more teacher then ratio. Thus it become a bad cycle and it become too difficult to improve enrollment. In my working gram panchayat there is 1GSS School,2 GUPS,6 GPS.Total 10 govt. schools,36 teachers and only 530(+or-).Now in this village 1 bharti foundation U.P.S.have 350 students and 1 private U.P.S have 250 students.Total 600 students and only 16 teachers.what a senario?...
