I am a BEE (government of India) certified Energy Manager first batch 2004 pass out. We have been told and also we have learnt that there will be a law which will insist manufacturers to provide details about energy consumption, energy efficiency of the products. Consumers will be able to judge and by energy efficient products which will help them to reduce energy consumption. This help to improve and save energy.Secondly our nation must ensure energy efficient public transport with strict laws.

In Philippines, there is a movement called liter of light, in which villages use solar light without too much technology, just a bottle of water and bleach. Do watch this link and see if these can be used in India. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-build-a-SOLAR-BOTTLE-BULB/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-Fpsw_yYPg

Have cold water or warm water baths instead of very hot water baths every day or every alternate day...that will save more electricity than lights. Its a misconception that lights consume more electricity. In fact they do NOT. Its the HEAT RELATED equipments that consume more electricity and are less efficient. Eg : Water heaters, A/C, Fans, Iron Box Fridge etc. If there is public awareness of reducing the use of these, then 100 times more electricity can be saved than by lighting alone.

Use of matchstick to light gas stove instead of a lighter could prevent loss of unburnt LPG, for the there is no assurance that stove would get ignited the first strike of the lighter. Further, we first turn open the stove & then strike the lighter. But, while using a matchstick, we light the matchstick first, take it near the burner and then only open the LPG knob. We could save a lot of unburnt LPG & promote cottage industry too. I request feedback on deforestation effect to produce matchboxes

Rationing of electricity should be done like ration card. Because there is no limit on the use of electricity by particular consumer particularly commercial consumers.Because the recover their bill from customers only, they are not paying from their pocket.

Solar subsidy should be continued for next 5 years to reduce dependence on electricity. On roof tops of railways solar can be used. municipal corporations should use solar operated street lights in rural areas as well as city areas. LED manufacturing industries should be promoted.
