Manual scavengers are largely illiterate and have no exposure or aptitude for doing business or taking up self employment ventures.  This makes their rehabilitation in alternative occupations very challenging.

\

What are the ways in which the manual scavengers can be gainfully employed in other occupations, so that they do not return to manual scavenging? Participants may share success stories that they may be aware of.

As Govt is having large database of MSME. Government should request & encourage all MSME to be part of Toilets for Girls scheme & if even 5 Lac MSME participated & built 4 toilets each in one year than there will be facility of 20 lac toilets in Rural India.

Education, New and novel ideas in waste management and focused implementation are the keys to accomplish any progress on this. One area where we need significant improvement is implementation. Many of our grand (or even simpler) plans fall by the wayside as all of us are not committed to implementing the plans sincerely.

Govt should engage IIT's for developing low cost toilets & human waste disposal system for Rural India. As corporates have come forward to provide toilets Govt. should also encourage MSME so that may be in small qty. but they can provide huge nos. of toilets in India. Also corporates & all other engaged in this initiative should also look after maintanance of toilets atleast for 3 years.

Hi Sir In our system we have police verification for a lot of things like if we need a passport then we required police verification, for some government job we also required police verification but do we have any TAT(Turn Around Time) for such verification's, Recently One of my friend applied for passport and his police verification is still pending even after 35 days because of no reason.

Literature is the best medium to present social-issues in society and make people aware,Anand's Untouchable can melt any heart and make people conscious the problem of manual-scavenging even he presents a solution to it in his novel.I just want a book-culture in our society which is unfortunately not there and education can do that a mission or any committee, council cannot.

In villages there is a problem of purchasing a cylinder. the cylinder cost is quite expensive so rural people cut lot of trees as wood is more cheaper than cylinder. so in villages cows and buffalo is in much amount and the waste of that animals can be used in bio gas plant for the production of gas called methane which can be used as a fuel.By this many things can come under control like cutting of trees and reducing LPG and the slurry can be used as fertilizers. The Maintenance its almost 0

To accomplish scavenging free India, there is a need to identify potential scavengers and label them, which can be done if there is national character mapping process which records the mischievous activities of non-criminals who have the habit of bullying with others and get benefitted.

funds released to manual scavengers are siphoned or misused by district administration. PMO should at least ensure that manual scavenging going in loni area should be stopped on priority.atleast national capital should be free from this curse
