Manual scavengers are largely illiterate and have no exposure or aptitude for doing business or taking up self employment ventures.  This makes their rehabilitation in alternative occupations very challenging.

\

What are the ways in which the manual scavengers can be gainfully employed in other occupations, so that they do not return to manual scavenging? Participants may share success stories that they may be aware of.

Swatch Bharat mission will be achieved by effective implementation of the programme on ground. We have been constructing toilet units for the last 18 years and people in rural areas have already deposited their beneficiary contribution as required for IHHL units

Manual Scavenging can be overcome by building individual toilets as we have been building for the last 18 yrs.Individual units can be built as per guidelines of govt of india, under earlier NBA and now SBM. Most of the toilets built are technically incorrect leading to non usage of those units. These units are polluting and not usable as they produce bad odour. This can be overcome by constructing technically correct units.

Make the Railway Minister see it with his own eyes, he will find a solution. Its terrible that despite the mangalyans, we have such inhuman situations. Listen Dear Scientists, lets have some solutions for these people who also eat..and with their hands!!!

Men urinate openly in front of our building wall and also around similar areas around our city. Confronting them proved nothing. Having a second thought, I wondered where could these guys, mostly shop-owners and their workers go for natures call. Wondered deeper and found that these are all men. There are a lot of shops in our locality but there are no public toilets in the near vicinity. And what about the poor women?

If all gov't offices mostly public dealing , set a system for compulsion of cash-less system than corruption reduced to 50%. The other benefits are reduce the time, proper utilization of manpower, elimination of sources which engaged with transfer of money at safe place & after that ultimately transferred at bank.

sir, in india their lot of black money is their and these fellows are saving their money in international banks like swiss bank with they are developing their country. I have an idea that why we wont start a bank to kept black money.i have an idea that people who kepting their money should be in secretly an dbank doesnt ask any details about money, and they have to pay 20% tax for that money after 10 years. and bank will pay 5% intrest for that money to them. i think if its work then surely.

Hello I have been looking at some problems regarding sanitation. I have a feeling we can explore humanure toilets as these can also help in producing fertilizer.
