The Prime Minister shared a visionary approach to transform the development journey of our villages in the form of the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. The initiative calls upon MPs to select a village in their constituency and make it a Model Village by 2016. Furthermore, the number of model villages should increase as time progresses so that in a decade a large number of villages become Model Villages across India.

The rationale behind a landmark idea such as this is clear- India lives in the villages and India will only progress when our villages progress. Development of villages can happen best when everybody walks shoulder to shoulder and contributes towards the comprehensive development of the village. And who better than the local Members of Parliament to drive this change!

This specially created forum on MyGov invites out of the box ideas on how the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana can become the driving force in bringing a qualitative difference in our villages. Lets make the development of our villages a grand mass movement and together create a golden future for rural India.

All schools should have attached clinics, female medical attendant/nurse or health worker and girls should be provided with facility and privacy to buy and change Sanitary napkins. This will reduce the absenteeism of girls on those days in rural areas.

Reg Libraries. Unfortunately people have a tendency to write or comment or draw on the books and they are sometimes obscene. People's mentality should change first. We should inculcate the value for books in the minds of children. Children should be encouraged to collect books. We hesitate to donate books to libraries because many of them do not keep them safe nor do they care for them Sometimes they become just centres to get govt grants. Ancient Indian books should be reprinted.

We can develop a cow centric village where an ideal Goshala can work as nodal agency for rural development. We can get cooking gas using gas plant and resedue (Cow dung) can be used to prepare wormy compost, a bio-fertilizer. Cow dung can be used for preparing cosmetics, soap, inscence stick, tooth powder, medicines etc. Cattle urine be as medicine. pesticide and fertilizer. Obviously milk will be a key product. Several cottage industry can grow in the village providing job opportunities.
