The Prime Minister shared a visionary approach to transform the development journey of our villages in the form of the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. The initiative calls upon MPs to select a village in their constituency and make it a Model Village by 2016. Furthermore, the number of model villages should increase as time progresses so that in a decade a large number of villages become Model Villages across India.

The rationale behind a landmark idea such as this is clear- India lives in the villages and India will only progress when our villages progress. Development of villages can happen best when everybody walks shoulder to shoulder and contributes towards the comprehensive development of the village. And who better than the local Members of Parliament to drive this change!

This specially created forum on MyGov invites out of the box ideas on how the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana can become the driving force in bringing a qualitative difference in our villages. Lets make the development of our villages a grand mass movement and together create a golden future for rural India.

Many a times the funds allocated under the MPLAD schemes go unused mainly due to the laziness of the MP himself. Such funds should be distributed to the relevant municipalities and panchayats of the area represented by the MP. Municipalities and Panchayats representatives should be held accountable if any of their allocated funds are not utilized for public welfare.

MPLAD fund should be allowed to be used by MP directly for development in their constituency, rather than to work through DC/collector or block development officer.

To all. When we talk about Gram Yojana we need to think of sustainance. The best way is to make sure we make our Gram have the ability to fish. We need to get the community to be self sustainable. Train them to work together to have rainwater harevested. Provide education and setup a system so the education is a continious process. Provide them access to sell the products they produce at the best price directly to the consumer. (Farmers Market) Provide technology for high quality production

In addition to basic amenities like electricity, water, school, hospital and police station, every village should have good transport links to a nearby hub town. Every village should have access to a post office, Internet shop, vocational skill centre, temple, ayurvedic medicine shop and a park with lots of trees and benches. There should be a Sunday market where villagers can sell their handmade products and advertise their services like stitching, teaching, etc.

Encourage the use of traditional saplings and seeds for cultivation. Not the tissue culture ones. Once everything goes tissue culture, farmers won't get seeds or saplings. Even for banana, when natural ones give clusters of young ones, farmer has to depend on tissue culture supplier. As such tissue culture will endanger the agriculture and food sector in the long run. Once it is popularised, they will start increasing the prices. They will hold the farmer at ransom. Dangerous.
