The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

Honourable Prime Minister, The need of the times is to democtratise learning to marginal sections of the society. Take learning to outdoors as Tagore has envisioned. India has to break away from the colonial structure of skill development whic was basically designed to create clerks and bureaucrats.

Modi ji, We are talking about "Developing Skills" but what about the skills one already have but the same is not utilized. There are several technical experts of various fields in govt sectors but just wasting their talent. In India we seek govt job without taking care of our studies/field. Reason for that is clear that govt job is secure and one need not to take things seriously. Within d departments every post is linked to the outcome of that post which depends on the offer u make to authorty
