My take on energy efficiency. I have listed 9 points in this document and feel it would help in conserving energy.

In many countries, there are GST incentives. It means any sort of government facility, like electricity if used correctly, then the government reimburses the consumption tax collected via GST (yes the future beholds). Even energy conservation can be an incentive way by returning some amount of gst collected, depending upon the bills. Higher usage of electricity lesser incentive, lower usage more incentive. This can also be a sort of green tax incentive for all sort of consumers of electricity.

Energy sector reforms are dependent on generation and demand. Decentralizing the power generation upto 500Kw and promoting the firm to sale the power to people would be a good business plan. The control on tariff should be addressed . This will make the govt run power plants to cater needs of major industries for productivity. State govt and central govt should look into various modalities where common tariff all over india should be coined. This will be the first step.

if i was the government of india i would remove all kind of taxes on the non conventional renuable energy sources and give subsidy to it so the coast equipment based on that would be lower and people can easily buy that. I will make one policy that under smart city project every house has own solar energy system 70% production of electricity is compulsory from the solar plant accept some weather problem another 30% will provide by government by their power plant

The Govt should encourage generation of solar power by all private players. by permitting purchase of solar power from individuals, housing societies, corporates thus encouraging them to put solar panels on all buildings. Any excess power during the day can be sold to power suppliers and deficit can be taken at night from them. The main cost of power generation to private players is power storage by installation of batteries. By adopting this model both the power producers & consumers benefit.

To improve public transport systems Encourage people to use cycles and battery powered vehicles. conduct awareness of environmental degradation caused by vehicle usage. Teaching in schools and colleges the importance of using cycles, walking to nearby places and usage of public transport.
