If I was the Government of India, I would use Solar power to the maximum by using it in street lights, solar powered traffic signalling, Solar powered water pumps and solar power everywhere possible. Other than solar power, for lighting solutions, LED is a more efficient and long lasting solution when the Sun is down!

There is an old Rly bridge constructed during British rule, near Rajamundry, on the river Godavari and presently it is not in use. Proposals are there to keep it as a monument and develop as a tourist spot. The bridge is 2754mtrs long. This can be used to lay solar panels and generate power which can be connected to Rly grid. Optimum utilization of land and availability of water are added advantages.

First thing I would is replicating the Gujarat's "Jyotirgram" yojana through state co-operation where there is huge supply and demand gaps and also the agriculture usage of electricity is more. This will make sure the usage of whatever available electricity to be used efficiently. At the same time would enhance all possible way to increase the production of electricity along with the quality. By doing this we will be self reliant in next 5 to 7 years.
