Initiate a Law: Newly constructed building (Commercial/ Residential) must use at least 40% of their total electric consumption via Solar Panel. Its the building owner / Contractor responsibility for provisioning Roof-top solar panel to achieve this. Without this, Building Sanction Plan would be cancelled.

Energy inefficiency in India is caused by different reasons than in EU or USA. People spend a huge amount of resources, and therefore burn energy dealing with bureaucratic hurdles. Three Steps : (1) Make most, if not all govt processes automated and computerized; (2) Tame the bureaucracy; (3) Reduce paperwork in all processes - you will see an energy efficiency improvement of 25 - 50%. Interestingly, such a jump is possible by doing nothing to the energy itself!

I shall first try to fix the existing system- look for wastages. First I think we need to educate masses on conservation of energy--use only what is very necessary. Secondly our transmission towers, wires carrying current of high voltage and transformers and even metres at home and Offices, factories, big Industries have to be checked for leakages and under readings or meddling up of meters. Much is lost while transferring power from sub stations to destinations. This needs to be fixed first.

India is blessed with abundant sunshine. Solar energy is clean and the capital cost is fairly low. I suggest to implement solar systems in villages. To minimize the distribution cost, these clusters can be relatively small covering few households, street lighting and other nearby public amenities
