Smart Cities Mission
The purpose of the Smart Cities Mission is to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life of people by enabling local area development and harnessing technology, especially technology that leads to Smart outcomes. Area-based development will transform existing areas (retrofit and redevelop), including slums, into better planned ones, thereby, improving livability of the whole City. New areas (greenfield) will be developed around cities in order to accommodate the expanding population in urban areas. Application of Smart Solutions will enable cities to use technology, information and data to improve infrastructure and services. Comprehensive development in this way will improve quality of life, create a clean and sustainable environment and apply Smart Solutions to infrastructure and services in order to make them better which will make Smart City a model to be replicated.
Ministry of Urban Development invites citizens to design a Logo and create a Tagline for ‘Smart Cities Mission’.
The last date for submission is 4th May, 2015 by 3.00 p.m.
Cash Prize for winning logo: Rs. 25,000

The mission of building smart cities across the nation reflects in the logo designed below. Logo has Tri-colors as three faces of a high rise building captured from a top view. This indicates the mission is implemented across the nation. The letter 'O' in mission resembles a power button and together with letter N, indicate 'ON' indicating the electronic smartness incorporated in the missi'ON'.Hence the tagline summarizes the theme of building smarter nation.'SMART CITIES FOR A SMARTER INDIA'

#SmartCitiesMission: In the logo design I have shown two high-rise buildings representing modern technology used in smart cities. Flowers (representing greenery and clean environment) are painted on the buildings. In the open air a butterfly is shown flying. This shows there is perfect harmony between the nature and the modern technology. I am sure you will like the design. Please approve.
