1) The logo represents a open book with multicolor pages...it's open to all because any Indian citizen can collect, discuss the records preserved so far. 2) The colorful pages signify the variety of information compiled under one cover. 3) The TAJ MAHAL denotes the vision of "NAI", that is to spread a feeling of national pride about our cultural heritage..moreover it indicates a true Indian flavor. 4) The 5 star indicates the "125 years of supremacy and perfection'' of "NAI".

This Symbol conveys the 'essence' of National Archives of India. The leaf of pipal tree represents cultural tradition, freedom movement, knowledge bank of India as well as the antiquity. The veins and stacks of book on it depicts archiving process. Finally the legend 'Shashwatam Dyanwruksha' mean the permanence of knowledge tree routed firmly in the past and branching lively into future. The symbol is ethnic and true to Indian ethos.
