The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
a. Waste management and zero waste systems
b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

How to participate?
1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

The Zero-Waste Maha Shivaratri initiative at Shri Parasurameshwar Pura Mahadev Temple aims to create a long-term sustainable and spiritually vibrant environment through proper crowd management, eco-friendly infrastructure, and community participation. The concept should naturally evolve from the devotees themselves, where people consciously avoid littering and the use of plastic within the temple premises. A well-designed atmosphere with floral beauty, greenery, serene surroundings, and aesthetically developed corridors can inspire cleanliness and discipline among visitors. Strict implementation of rules and penalties for plastic usage and waste disposal should be enforced alongside awareness activities and volunteer support systems. The development of a strong green community culture, proper water management, and well-maintained public spaces will help transform the temple into a model sustainable spiritual destination promoting devotion along with environmental responsibility.

American company GE is delaying the engines required for our HAL Tejas again n again due to which our new built aircrafts are just standing in the plants without engines so India could think of getting the Volvo RM12 (EP)enhanced performance engines from Sweden which are better than the GE 404 engines in every aspect. We will wait for the year2021 order of GE engines to get delivered and cancel the order given in the year2025 by replacing it with RM12 EP engines, and the money given in 2025 should be exchanged with the energy resources import from America.

The TTD Model: Mandating Plant-Based Cutlery & Phased Plastic Ban Enforcement The Idea: Drawing directly from the successful environmental model implemented by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on the Tirumala hills, this initiative enforces a strict, phased elimination of plastic cutlery by replacing it with standardized plant-based alternatives. Implementation: TTD-Inspired Checkpoints: Mimicking TTD's Alipiri security screening, establish strict border checks at all entry points to the Baghpat Mela grounds to intercept single-use plastic cutlery and bags before they enter. Mandatory Eco-Sourcing: Make it a mandatory licensing clause for all bhandaras and food stalls to use strictly biodegradable alternatives, such as traditional terracotta (kulhads), pressed areca nut palm-leaf plates, or millet-based edible spoons. Supply Chain Subsidies: Partner with regional self-help groups (SHGs) to set up subsidized bulk-supply distribution hubs on-site, ensuring vendors can

Gamified Waste Management via "Bhakti Token" QR- Based The Idea: To encourage pilgrims to voluntarily keep the Mela clean, we can introduce a QR-based gamified recycling system. Implementation: Smart Disposal Hubs: Set up designated waste segregation booths manned by youth volunteers. QR Scanning: When a pilgrim disposes of plastic bottles, wrappers, or dry waste correctly at these hubs, the volunteer scans a personalized QR code on the pilgrim's phone (via a simple MyGov mini-app or WhatsApp bot). The Reward: Each correct disposal earns "Bhakti Points." Accumulating points unlocks digital rewards, such as a "Green Pilgrim" digital certificate from the Baghpat Administration, or priority access coupons for VIP queue lines/Prasad distribution. Why it works: This shifts the narrative from "punishing littering" to "rewarding cleanliness," utilizing basic technology to drive massive community participation and behavioral change on the ground.

Eco-Prahari" Youth Network for Real-Time Crowd & Waste Monitoring The Idea: Mobilize local NCC, NSS, and college students from Baghpat and neighboring districts as "Eco-Praharis" (Eco-Guardians) to manage crowd behavior and cleanliness zones. Implementation: Zonal Mapping: Divide the entire Mahashivratri Mela ground into micro-zones, assigning a specific youth team to each zone. Dual Responsibility: These volunteers will assist with visitor management (preventing overcrowding) while actively gently nudging pilgrims to use nearby dustbins. Tech Integration: Equip team leaders with a basic monitoring app to report overflowing dustbins or heavy litter zones directly to the municipal cleaning staff for immediate action. Why it works: It provides the administration with free, highly motivated manpower to ensure the festival runs smoothly on the ground while instilling leadership and environmental responsibility in the youth.

Compressed Bamboo Infrastructure and Upcycled Cloth Signage The Idea: Temporary hoardings, flex banners, and barricades used during melas are typically made of non-recyclable PVC plastics and synthetic materials that linger for years as pollution. Implementation: Bamboo Frameworks: Mandate that all temporary arches, administrative booths, and structural barricades utilize locally sourced, sturdy bamboo instead of metal or plastic frames. Upcycled Signage: Replace plastic flex banners with hand-painted or screen-printed signs made from upcycled cotton cloth or biodegradable jute sheets. Post-Event Reuse: After the festival, the bamboo structures can be dismantled and donated to local construction or craft sectors, ensuring zero structural waste. Why it works: It drastically lowers the carbon footprint of the festival's infrastructure, supports traditional local artisans, and visually signals a commitment to "Prakriti" to every incoming pilgrim.

Conversation with Gemini Give me inviting ideas for shri parshimeshwaram pura mahadev temple Creating an inviting atmosphere or promotional concept for the Shri Parshimeshwaram Pura Mahadev Temple (often famously known as Pura Mahadev Temple in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh) is all about balancing its deep historical mysticism with a welcoming, peaceful energy for modern devotees. Here are some inviting ideas tailored for event planning, community engagement, tourism development, or digital invitation concepts for this sacred Shiva temple: 1. Experiential & Event Ideas Transform a regular visit into a deeply immersive spiritual journey. "Shiv Ganga" Evening Maha Aarti: Standardize a grand evening Aarti on the temple steps, similar to the ones in Varanasi or Haridwar. Use large brass lamps, synchronous chanting, and distribute free clay diyas (lamps) to devotees to float in nearby water bodies or place around the complex. Rudrabhishek Meditative Retreats: Organize weekend morning slots sp
