The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
a. Waste management and zero waste systems
b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

How to participate?
1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

Dear ModiJi 🙏, For this underwater pipeline project Source: India Today https://share.google/7AeGQHoosnloUme5s Please redesign the pipeline material using flexible hose reinforced with woven thread and perhaps woven with covered SS grade Steel wire or underneath rubber sheath. This way it can be laid down easily onto the seabed same like internet/ telecommunication cables across sea floor. And may be covered with Sea bed sand using sand blaster vessels used for making the island in the sea. Thank you 🙏

“My suggestion is to develop a complete Zero Waste Management system for the Mahashivratri Mela by placing separate bins for wet, dry, and religious waste at all major locations. Single-use plastic should be banned and replaced with reusable steel utensils, cloth bags, bamboo products, and eco-friendly materials. QR codes and digital displays can be used to spread awareness about cleanliness, waste segregation, and sustainable practices among devotees. Local volunteers, NSS students, and youth groups can help visitors follow zero-waste practices during the event. Flower and food waste from the temple can be converted into compost and organic products. This initiative can make Baghpat a national model for environmentally responsible religious tourism under the vision of ‘Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi’.”

श्रद्धा स्पर्धा के साथ साथ जो बेस्टेज बचे उसे रिसाइकल करके प्रोडक्ट को मैन्युफैक्चरिंग करके बेरोज को रोजगार देने का काम करे तभी स्वच्छ भारत मिशन का लक्ष्य पूरा होगा इसमें अलग-अलग वेस्टज को अलग-अलग बिन में भंडार करवाये जैसे प्लास्टिक पॉलिथीन, पुष्प, नारियल, इत्यादि

Idea Title: "Bring Waste, Get a Meal" – Complete Waste Prevention and Food-Incentive Model Description: To transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a 100% 'Zero Waste Mahotsav', my proposal focuses on a dual model of waste prevention at the source and an effective food-incentive management system. First, a mandatory rule should be enforced for all food and beverage stalls in the fair to serve items only in recyclable or biodegradable materials (such as pattals/leaf plates, clay kulhads, or paper cups). This will tackle the root cause of the waste. Second, to manage and clear the remaining dry waste (cardboard, wrappers, etc.) that scatters across the venue, digital weighing scale collection counters should be set up at the main exit gates. Here, a transparent and highly motivating rule will be implemented: anyone (whether a devotee or a local underprivileged child) who collects and brings 500 grams of dry waste to the counter will immediately receive

The initiative aims to completely transform the massive public gathering at the historic Pura Mahadev Temple into an eco-friendly, green pilgrimage site. Grounded in India's broader Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and the Swachh Bharat mission, the focus is on eliminating single-use plastics, scientific waste segregation, and recycling resources. Banning single-use plastic bags and substituting them with reusable cloth or jute bags; setting up clay cup (kulhad) and leaf plate (pattal) stalls for prasad distribution.

Strictly no plastic (particularly single use)cutlery. Use cloth banners , buntings. Fine for spitting (gutkha , tambaku). Facilitate with enough washrooms , toilets , drinking water , dustbins . Enough Volunteers to make sure and guide people to follow the rules and regulations to keep the space clean.
