The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
a. Waste management and zero waste systems
b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

How to participate?
1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

My ideas about Shri Parashurameshar Pure Mahadev Temple Mahashivratri as Zero Waste Mahotsav Baghpat are: As we know at the temples the most of the durt, filth and mess is happens because the the offering or blessed food which is used to offer the Mahadev but when the food is being through in Temple and not offer as hand to hand on Mahadev by priests by which the mess begins to happens all around the temples because there are on temr for controlling that issue so my idea about that the situation is the offring which peoples are offer in Temple there is a Specific place is been present where people gave there offering and the the mess is being very much in control. As for the bless food, the food should be distrubut in people's and by which the food also is not going in to the waste and if it gives to the people's who genuinely needs it are being happy with it Mahadev also bless all the devotees or the distrubuters.

Sir India’s defence industry is very strong and capable now so the enemies know it and not take a chance to destroy the sovereignty of the nation by military attack as there plan now is to break the nation from inside, demography change now they can’t do so they are using the students the Gen Z the innocent youth who gets trapped in the narrative easily. So government need to fight with the 0.5 front who along with left lobbies and jehadis are running a campaign in India to lure students, in the name of paper leek which is a fault with government, so government should show their accoutability and show the students that the Indian government is concerned about the future of the youth as remaining silent on this issue is creating a chaos on the ground due to which large number of students who was in favour of the bjp is now finding options.

I welcome this commendable effort to make the Mahashivratri festival 'zero waste' and offer some of my suggestions to make it successful. First idea: The use of plastic and thermocol should be completely banned. Instead, the use of earthen cups, donas, leaves, and steel utensils should be encouraged. Second idea: A small unit should be established in or near the temple premises to recycle flowers and other organic waste into compost. Third idea: Separate dustbins should be placed at various places for waste segregation so that dry and wet waste can be collected separately. Fourth idea: A dedicated team of volunteers should be formed to create awareness among devotees and maintain order.
