Indian National Defence University Bill, 2015 proposes to establish a world class fully autonomous institution of National Importance under Ministry of Defence. University will develop and propagate higher education (PhD, M Phil, M Tech and M Sc) in National Security Studies, Defence Management and Defence Technology and promote policy oriented research on all aspects relating to national security, both internal and external. It would also encourage awareness of national security issues by reaching out to scholars and an audience beyond the official machinery. It will also serve as a think tank contributing to policy formulation and debates on security and strategy. INDU will inculcate and promote coordination and interaction not just between the three Armed Services but also between other agencies of the Government, the Civil Bureaucracy, Para Military Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, Intelligence Services, Diplomats, Academicians, Strategic Planners, University Students and officers from Friendly Foreign Countries. It would create synergy between the academic community and Govt functionaries. It would make available opportunities for higher studies through distance learning to interested military personnel.

Initially, four new colleges / institutions, namely School of National Security Studies, School of Defence Technology, School of Defence Management and Centre for Distance and Open Learning are proposed to be set up at main campus at Binola, Gurgaon. The four existing Defence Institutions namely National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi, College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad, Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington and National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Pune are proposed to be brought under the ambit of INDU without diluting their powers or autonomy for award of degrees and diplomas.

The last date for sharing inputs on Draft Indian National Defense University Bill, 2015 is 21st August, 2016.

As stated in previous post, the ex-servicemen can be posted for some security related jobs in armed forces. This would give evasion to govt. from the pensions as it would pay the servicemen a salary for their contribution and would get unparalleled service due to their expertise in such things. This way the ex-servicemen would also enjoy and feel that they are giving back to the nation even after their retirement after 60. The servicemen would no longer ask for OROP then as they would get salary

Again off-topic: This may be a solution for the Pension burden on Finance. The soldiers who retire from the Army, Navy or Air Force can be given some position in security of bases and perimeter around or supervision of their security. they may not be physically desirable but mentally there is NO MATCH for them. They have the vital experience required for such jobs even after retirement. This is being followed in US and most notably in security of 'Area 51' whose 1st defense line is Ex-Servicemen

This is not exactly related to INDU bill but since this is the only topic for MoD, I am posting it. As the army is cutting it's size, I advise on bringing the soldiers removed from field duties to State Police Training. Why, Because they are soldiers are very well trained in close quarter as well as long range weaponized combat. And their experience would give the much needed training to Police which is essential for the modernization of police whose situation is well known (in the villages etc)

All the citizens of India should get compulsory defense training for minimum one month in every 5 years to inculcate patriotism, discipline, self defense and physical fitness. These things are very much lacking in many Indians and the same is increasing very fast. This is immediately required for Indian police who are worst in patriotism, discipline, and physical fitness. For police, the frequency of training should be annually. The use of army for for internal affairs should be minimized.

selection procedure during SSB interview should be transparent which means that on what basis a student get rejected in the selection. I am asking this because early 2016 I had my SSB Interview exam and I was not selected after giving my best which causes me to go through a mental trauma. Please look for students also.

I would like to suggest for compulsory commando like training for every citizen of India who is above the age of 18 years. And inclusion of our ancient Vedic and Yogic knowledge for the preparation of modern soldiers of the country. A culture of innovation for military hardware manufacturing indigenously and policy should be formulated in a practical way that may attract bright students from IIT,NIT,IIM etc. First of all is Love for the country or for the Mother land should be inculcated.
