Bengaluru (erstwhile Bangalore), the capital of Karnataka, has a history of over four hundred years, having been founded by Magadi Kempegowda in the year 1537 AD. With its strategic location as well as congenial climate, fertile land & adequate rainfall has grown steadily in its area.

The history of municipal governance of Bangalore dates back to 1862, when nine leading citizens of the city formed a Municipal Board under the Improvement of Towns Act of 1850. Later, a similar Municipal Board was also formed in the Cantonment area of the city. The two boards were legalised in 1881, and functioned as two independent bodies called the Bangalore City Municipality and the Bangalore Civil and Military Station Municipality.

Post-Independence, the two Municipal Boards were merged to form the Corporation of the City of Bangalore in 1949. In January 2007, the Karnataka Government issued a notification to merge 100 wards of the erstwhile Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) with seven City Municipal Council (CMCs’), one Town Municipal Council (CMC) and 111 villages around the city to form a single administrative area and the body was renamed 'Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike' (BBMP) in 2007.

Traffic : Our city traffic worst because of three reasons. a. Multiple vehicles are allowed to use by a single family. 2. Vehicles are driven by non professional drivers ( Without License). C. Traffic violations and negligence of traffic police. These things can be controlled by copying few rules from other countries. Heavy fine to be levied on traffic offence. If Minors drive the vehicles parents also to be made accountable. Very old vehicles should not be allowed on road.

Yes! Namma Bengaluru has to be smart if every Bangalorean cooperates and contributes. We have to categorize the areas as follows; 1. Cleanliness : Cleanliness in general and Garbage in particular has to be properly and scientifically addressed. If the garbage is collected in particular area in prescribed time the problem is solved to some extent as now a days the garbage collector comes as and when he feels. 2. Greenery 3. Traffic 4. Employment 5. Freebies to many categories

Nandihills should be developed as the heart of the new city. Surrounding region should be developed in circles of green belts alternating circles of commercial residential areas. Existing lakes should be developed. Nandihills should be connected with rope ways. City should be echo friendly and mainly developed as knowledge / IT city. Old city should be connected with new city with high speed trains

Bangalore is in desperate need of make over. The image of Bangalore has gone down drastically. It's astonishing how, this city which is home to so many high tech industries has such horrible road infrastructure. We expect respected PM Modiji to not ignore Bangalore and come and see inspite of the current worse public infrastructure how IT compaines are invested here.

Also all major arterial & sub-arterial roads need be upgraded under already existing TENDERSURE project. Drainage network shud be modernised. Outer ring road shud be 100% signal free! Atleast 300km network of Metro rail by 2022 is need along with feeder services by a Monorail network. SUBURBAN RAIL SYSTEM wil ease difficulties of long distance commuters frm nearby towns & decongest highways. Peripheral Ring Road als shud be speeded up by GOI as promised. BBMP shud be revamped & modernised.

Thank you Mr Minister for choosing Bangalore as part of smart city project! Bangalore the Tech capital, Start Up capital, Garden city....& many more suffers from lack of vision & planning. Pathetic infrastructure is a major impediment to its growth. Multiple agencies like BBMP NDA BMRDA work at Cross purposes. A city of 1000 lakes ones is reduced to 100 now. The city needs a robust & compressive planning authority unlike BDA. Public transport needs significant improvement with sub urban rail too

I guess this is the right choice, because it's one of the most interesting hotspot for many of startups companies and foreign investors. There are hell of lot of problems as well, if at least they get money out of smart city allotments then at least some percentage of taking loans will reduce to feed this ever hungry govt officials and politicians, So our poor tax payers will be benefited otherwise tax payers will end up paying huge taxes without any benefits
