The Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued draft rules to ensure ease of using drones in India on the basis of trust, self-certification, and non-intrusive monitoring. The Drone Rules, 2021, once notified, will supersede the UAS Rules, 2021, which came into force on March 12 this year.

The Rules aim to make the process of owning, possessing, exporting, importing, manufacturing, trading, leasing, operating, transferring, or maintaining a drone in India, simpler and hassle-free. For that, the draft rules seek to abolish the requirement of various approvals, ranging from certificate of conformance, certificate of maintenance, import clearance, to student remote pilot licences.

Besides, it proposes the development of drone corridors for cargo deliveries and a drone promotion council to be set up to facilitate a drone-friendly regulatory regime in the country.

Click here to view The draft of Draft Drone Rules, 2021, which is issued for public consultation for seeking feedback and suggestions.

The last date of submission is August 5, 2021.

Inviting the drones our is good also drones must have major rules and regulations. That drones will be used by governments permission, because of some rich peoples are using for unnecessary purposes. So give permission to use for useful purposes. Like in police science , Army battles, traffic directions , agriculture purposes. So I know that draft rules for drones is : 1,make governments permission. 2, use only for useful purposes, 3,don't use for marriage shots . Thanking you all.

Drones have been effectively used as complementary to digital /forensic/GIS /camera/police science ! will we see the same here in India ? govt is building houses free & tagging checking progress ? y ihas it not used the same yardstick 4road mainteance where lac crores/year r spent with negative results. when will govt do this ? ofcourse Drones here would reduce cost ? similar for monitoring waste /effluents in larger areas -tourists trekking mountain peaks, river banks rail ,road networks etc

Badly disappointed. 0/100 toppers just don't demonstrate any learning ! drones r not new in globe , where is the comparative of India v/s others countries. learning , challnges being addressed/solved in this policy or for that matter any gov policy ! reinvent the wheel & waste 75 years? we as citizens would experience good/bad of drones ! where is policy objective of achievement ! so many objections raised here addressed/mitgated in this policy -learning from other countries but 0 here etc

The number of forms to be filled to seek authorisation before operating a drone has been reduced from 25 to six, according to a statement issued by the Ministry. While most drones will need a unique identification number, a certificate of airworthiness, a remote pilot licence for the person controlling the drone and prior permission, no such approvals will be required for drones used for research and development by entities and educational institutions recognised by the Central government,

NEW DELHI: Simplified drone rules, which abolish the need for a large number of approvals, are in the offing in the country. The Ministry of Civil Aviation on Wednesday released Draft Drone Rules, 2021, for public consultation until August 5. The rules will replace the Unmanned Aircraft System Rules, 2021, notified on March 12, 2021.
