A National Mission on Mentoring (NMM) offers individuals to engage in the processes of learning under an experienced professional. To accomplish this goal a large pool of senior/ retired faculty can be selected as potential mentors for mentees. The selected mentors would be utilized for the specific purpose of mentoring students, teachers and school leaders. This would provide an opportunity to network with experts, engage in forums to exchange 'earnings, best practices and disseminate findings across various domains.

A structure of mentoring, therefore, offers a solution to address the existing gaps in decentralized manner. To regulate the functioning of NMM at each level of education structure, different stakeholders/ actors interact with each other to achieve a common goal towards improving the acquisition and transfer of knowledge, skills and mindsets. The main objective is to improve school education system through enhanced leadership in education. This can be achieved through the incorporation of large scale, decentralized technology assisted mentoring structure at different level of education system.

In this regard, a draft document on NMM titled as "Bluebook on Mentoring" has been placed in public domain on 03.11.2021, as a set of guidelines towards creation of a document and platform for National Mission for Mentoring.

NCTE invites inputs, suggestions and feedback on the draft document "Bluebook on Mentoring" from all stakeholders.

Mentoring is a very Noble Idea and Far fetched dream. Mentoring is not necessarily restricted to education as we commonly think. But learned and established personalities in various fields can play a lead role in this by mentoring younger generations in their field and developing their replicas who can take the nation forward. Rising above the need for monetory compensation such eminent personalities can take mentoring as their moral responsibility for Society and Nation.

Mentoring is a good intervention in any organisation. The success of mentoring activity depends on willingness to change, otherwise it may not yield good results. The present system is not in a position to go with mentoring unless you make systemic changes in our organization structure. Capable people are not joining in system and we may not create great society with substandard or less motivated or non- curious employees. Finding suitable mentors at all levels is also great task. Hope for best.

Namaskar, Looking back at the pandemic impact on education, one observation I made is the home education. Home education is not new. In the world, I know some countries allow home education and then appear for board examination directly. It appears to me this not popular in our country. My suggestion: 1. We should have certification for home tutors (renewable peridocially) by concerned state board such as Board of secondary education or board of intermediate that enables them to mentor...

Mentoring is a time-proven strategy that can help young people of all circumstances achieve their potential. Mentors are caring individuals who, along with parents or guardians, provide young people with support, counsel, friendship, reinforcement and a constructive example. But mentoring is not a one-size-fits-all proposition. Every young person who would benefit from a mentoring relationship has individual needs.
