We don't need to setup facilities for all sports in all states. We just need to identify the right talents in right place and gives them all the facilities.Like Kerala people have boat Race which is similar to Rowing So setup the Rowing Training center there.Northeast people are so flexible comparing to other states. So build the Gymnastics training center there. Likewise some state's people excel well in some sports than the others. It maybe rooted in their culture itself

Our achievements in sports rooted in our ideology towards it. And most parents and students believed in studying and getting jobs hence many talents were discouraged by self, parents and surroundings. So as a suggestion we can encourage students from their early childhood towards sports and we can do this by adding some of the provisions in our National educational policy itself. For short-term measures improving infra and providing funds to the talents will be result oriented.

I should say it is amazing that Ms. Sindhu won a silver medal from our country where there is a lot of racket which discourage many talented souls. But let's look at the Paralympics where India won lots of good medals. Why? Why not we should ask. There's no scheming politics there, no flexing of muscles by super powers who can simply buy the medals. The Olympics is a Western event, so they take all the medals and give none to the people from countries they hate even if they are better

1.Like omplyipads conducting tests to filter out talent.
2.Invite legends like usain bolt, Phelps to motivate students
3.Adopt models of China/USA in creating sports infra, and motivate students from young age into sports.
4. Encourage sports that are played from ancient times like Kerala is known for both race, haryana for wrestling, N.E for footfall, hockey.
5. Formulate committee to inspect schools on regular basis to study activities conducted by them.
6. Motivating parents

Focus on local highly qualified coaches. This will save money which will be spent in calling foreign coaches. No doubt, a few sports require foreign coaches.
The medals that are won are all of the players. The country does nothing else than criticizing when they lose and applauding when they win. Everything they do by their own. From training to equipment. Make the sports authority independent of govt like BCCI for everything from administration to finance. Finance from govt will be entertained

Instead of all the discussions on "How to improve India's performance at Olympics" by the politicians and bureaucrats in Air Conditioned conference rooms, the govt. should go ask to the Olympic winners that how are we supposed to improve India's performance. What are the things that are required. Because we never know what is required they know it. Ask Abhinav Bindra, Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik, Deepa Karmakar, Devendra Jhajhariya and Mariyappan that what is it they need to do better.

The govt is not going to change the people's mindset so they start sending their kids to sports all of a sudden. And neither it can do so.
So,it will be better if the government focuses on the upliftment of existing players.China has 600(or 6000) stadiums all over the country where all kinds of indoor sports with a few outdoor ones(Lawn tennis, football, hockey)are taught.I doubt India has even 6 such.Every town must have at least one such stadium under govt control where players should be taught.

Instead of sending big contingents, India must focus on training of just a few sports. But the training, motivation and performance must be above reproach. The infrastructure and equipment must be cutting edge.
Jamaica won 6 golds in just one sport and didn't opted for any other than Athletics. But the training was beyond what Indian athletes can ever get in India. It is needed that the potential sports be recognized-Badminton,Shooting,Swimming,Table Tennis,Lawn Tennis,Gymnastics,Wrestling etc.

It's in the gene pool that a few countries perform superb in a few games while not so well in others.Like the Caribbean people are unbeaten in Athletics, they have stamina.Others like Chinese, dont have stamina so they go for Table Tennis,Badminton,Swimming etc.
It is therefore required that the true potential be recognized and instead of just increasing the contingent size, the medal count be increased even with a small contingent. Jamaica sent >20 players still bagged 11 medals including 6 gold
