In the recently concluded Rio Olympics 2016, India sent its largest ever Olympic contingent comprising of 118 athletes. Despite the large number of athletes, the Indian contingent managed to bag only 2 medals in the Games viz., one Silver medal in Badminton and one Bronze medal in Wrestling. Considering the size of our country it can be said that the present performance was not up to the country’s potential. Views/suggestions are invited on what specific steps need to be taken to realise full sporting potential of India in forthcoming Olympics in 2020, 2024 and 2028.

Govt needs to increase budget allocation on Olympic sports development, building of infrastructure comprising several Olympic sports facilities (minimal in nature), with quaity equipment and multi-gyms. Regular funding must be provided for maintenance of these facilities and replacement of equipment after a specified period of time, or when rendered unusable

Need to have many superior skilled talent spotters, coaches and fitness trainers who will work with children and youth. These experts need to be very much knowledgeable about modern methods, with hands on exposure. Their skills need to be refreshed every year through mandatory, high intensity training courses of specified hours. Coaches should have good man management skills, and must not compromise on disciplinary issues

Sports facilities should have minimum seating capacity (no huge gallery) not exceeding 1000 seats, depending on sport. Build facilities with multiple playing arenas, so that local communities, including schools, colleges, individuals can practice sports when they have time. Need to ensure children and youth who will practice sports under specialized training, also get good academic exposure (a much needed backup, which will ensure economic security for the individual sportsperson)

Bring sports to masses. Encourage children to learn and practice an Olympic sport during summer vacations and weekends, under coaches, trainers who can impart correct technical skills. Coaches need to be aware of, and have hands on experience in modern coaching techniques on basic and core skills, appropriate training path for talented children and youth. Invest in minimal but must needed infrastructure (playing arena and multi gym, swimming pool) and equipment

It's living example of Rio participants&winners,from westerners,one noticeable point that,"time factor",very important.In a few sports, like sprints(bolt),targets the time taken for performing,to complete 100m,200m, he attempting sprint,thousand times,& improves his own time record,by improving his own world&olympic record,by breaking time.Swimming Phelps,time-focus,break their own world records,think of bestperformance,medals chase them.target be on time&performance,health,no po'tics,show-off,

जिस प्रकार पढाई में topper करने वाले बच्चों को पुरस्कृत तथा समाज में बहुत सम्मान दिया जाता है।उसी प्रकार स्कूल जीवन से ही जो खेलों में टॉप करते गो उनको पुरस्कृत करने और स्थानीय तथा ऊपरी प्रशासन द्वारा सम्मानित किया जावे।सभी सरकारी कार्यक्रमों में उनको आमंत्रित कर सम्मान दिया जाये तो अभिभावक सिर्फ पढाई पर ही ध्यान न देकर खेलों में भी अपने बच्चो को पूरे उत्साह से भेजें।

In respect to improving performance in olympics or in other mega sports events, I want to suggest that, Each and every city and small grams and grass root level the sports should be encouraged, school and colleges are the best media to encourage the students to involve in interest of game. there are requirements of good coaches, special training or the classes for coaches should be created and maximum no.s of coaches as per requirments should involved in the sports developments , best wishes

Suggestions for sports:after selection for sports academy government should also looks after education in English because small girls and boys below 12 years selected in academy there is not facility for good school so parents are not interested in sending their children in sports academy.mine daughter was also selected in sports academy but not send due to lack of poor schooling facilities

I m working in NRHM in Medical, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Rajasthan. Post of Data entry oparetor 04.01.2008 to Countuinies until date & for Hornioms 4500 to 6600. He is no Regulise me.. my entiere life r disposed so I decieded this.
