In the recently concluded Rio Olympics 2016, India sent its largest ever Olympic contingent comprising of 118 athletes. Despite the large number of athletes, the Indian contingent managed to bag only 2 medals in the Games viz., one Silver medal in Badminton and one Bronze medal in Wrestling. Considering the size of our country it can be said that the present performance was not up to the country’s potential. Views/suggestions are invited on what specific steps need to be taken to realise full sporting potential of India in forthcoming Olympics in 2020, 2024 and 2028.

Pakistan should first control its territory already in hand. Going after others property and trying to make it hell is their inherited nature post partition. The Kashmiri pandit and Hindu local population consensus earlier to be presented when ever Human rights violations are taken by Pakistan. Where Was UN at that time. Balochistan is bordering with India. What about Assam, Sikkim with whom we are bordering its Pakistan's Ally China. So need to say further.

School Ti.me. Right Up to 4 pm from 9 am leaving very little enjoyable time to relax and play. Reduce the no of hours in the school to not more than 5 and only people opting for optional subjects are taught after that. Make sports affordable. Most sporting equipment are imported and cost a lot of money. Very poor infrastructure. Need to travel a large distance to indulge in your sports passion which is detrimental and increase the burden of cost.

Sir, what Pakistan is talking of Maoist & other parts of our Country, they should realise their Governance and growth after partition till date. There has been violations by Pakistan by hiding the terrorists in their place of which Laden is a live example.2 things cannot be possible at same time I.e they claim that their army along the borders are keeping tight vigil and at the same time terrorists are also entering from their borders.

Things need to start changing at the grassroot level. Change the academic curriculum to include grades for extracurricular(in all boards across country ). This will be an immense boost to many kids who are more inclined towards sports. At the administrative level, ban politicians and bureaucrats with no connection to a particular sport from the sports body.When people with the right will powee get into the system, change will occur. Gopichand is an example for the above statement! #MyGov

I have been reading on this topic from quite some time now, the points I came up with are 1Lack of infrastructure 2Lack of professionalism 3No Talent hunting 4Lack of grass root modeling programs 5Poor coaching staff and facalities 6No or less Rewards at basic level 7less or no Encouragement from families to take up sports 8Politics 9Unfare selection 10Lack of opportunities 11less or no foreign Exposure 12Diet 13strict & proper health/routine 14no participation of media ...

Secondly, India is a vast country. And you won't find all the talent in posh competitions. The selection and development process has to go more deep. Even from villages and small cities, sportsmen should be promoted. They should be given some kind of incentive to concentrate on their sports. It could be better future as a trainer or selector or even developer of sport.

First of all are we promoting any support. Trust me, everybody has been a kid, how many parents promote anything except cricket. The basic reason, there is a bleak chance of making a career. First and foremost, we have to realize that there are several sports where people with different capabilities can compete. Then make sure that enough opportunity is provided for anyone develop and lead a peaceful and happy life. Opening of Football league, hockey leagues, is a good idea. Be more frequent.

Also sportsman at international, national and state level after their retirement from the game must be given preference in govt schools and sport institutions as Coach and physical education teacher. This will not only ensure a safe future for our sportsman after they retired, it will also help as create a network for hunting new talents in field of sports from school and college level.

Sporting talent develop basically in schools and college. Over emphasis on subjects which shows on marksheet of students leads to neglect of efforts made by student in field of sports. Hence parents not supporting or encouraging them. We need develop marking system in our education system which includes sport as an subject. MoHRD must collaborate with Ministry of Youth and Sports to develop special courses for such student who are gifted in field of sports.
