Taking serious note of the latest decision of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Chandigarh Administration has speed up the enforcement of ban imposed on the use of polythene carry bags/plastic bags/plates/cups and other allied material in Union Territory of Chandigarh. As per NGT directions there is also provision of imposing fine of Rs.5, 000/- "Environmental Compensation" to the erring person/entity per event, along with seizure of such stocks.

With the help of this discussion platform the Administration requests you to 'report the violations' (attach pictures or other details) regarding use of plastic carry bag/plate/cup and allied items on ww.mygov.in. Also, we would like to read your suggestions/ideas as well as practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of plastic (carry bag/cup/plate and allied items) ban in Chandigarh.

"Ban On Plastic" Everyone want that beside this plastic is using everywhere. But the question is what is the need to ban plastic i think we want to ban plastic because it is indecompsable so ban on the plastic does'nt mean the decompostion of plastics whic we have already made so what will you do with these plastics which is prepared already. therefore in my opinion there should be a campaign named- "BAN ON THE PRODUCTION OF PLASTIC"

Dear Sir. An innovative method which can be used is as follows: 1. Plastic materials  to be collected. 2. it should be converted to plastic notes. 3. These notes should be valid in only certain transactions. 4. All the notes should come with an expiry date . 5. After the expiry date, the notes should be returned back to the same place from where it was availed. It is my kind request to you to think on this project . Thanks

A notice should be given to all shops and businesses that they have until a certain date to comply with UT Admin norms. If plastic bags, utensils etc. are still found, they should be fined unequivocally. But it should also be made easier for them all to procure alternatives, such as through incentives or recognition. UT Admin could mediate between businesses and cloth bag sellers to facilitate purchase and also disposal of the plastic items.

India is probably the only country to the best of my knowledge that distributes milk in plastic pouches. These plastic pouches should be banned and reintroduce glass bottles or tetra pack containers which are bio friendly and can be recycled without harming environment. Cloth bags should be introduced through Corporate Social Responsibility to reduce utilization of plastic bags.
